Safeway on Fire in PHX

Crazy the amount of smoke coming out of it. Got so thick after awhile it was blocking mountains.

Snapped this from our porch. Store at 35 ave and Northern. Good 35 miles away.

Its 101% gone. Someone should have saved the Don Julio’s and ran.

Saw it on the news it was a good size fire. A Safeway store not sure if there is very much left

It has been a long time since I fought fire.

PFD has learned not to mess with these flat or semi flat roof buildings from past injuries and deaths. Surround and Drown with stingers and Ladder with nozzles. Glad no one was reported hurt or dead.

PFD has some sayings at their academy briefing room. One of them says something like this: We will risk our life only to save life - we will not intentionally risk our life to save property.

This fire went to a defensive attack quickly and rightfully so.

Thanks for clarification. I have only been in there on a few occasions.

PFD, GFD and all the other agencies involved in this event kicked some major butt and get two thumbs up from me! What most don't know is that it was still in the high 80's with high humidity for Phx then add stress, heat, smoke and in turnouts for hours.

Buddy of mine did same recently. He started with BigBear grocery around 1978.
