That's the speed your supposed to pull a trailer at per the DMV. And it looks like he is in the far right lane, where he is supposed to be. So what did he do wrong?

That rig probably does not handle too well much above 55

That is a short wheelbase Jeep. Tow capacity of 2000# max. It is towing a boat that looks to be at least 8' wide and about 24' long (plus trailer) with out any mirror extensions. He wasn't in that lane as I was getting my camera out and turned on his signal and moved over. If there was a car there, he wouldn't have seen it, nor would they have seen his signal. This is a problem waiting to happen. I sure hope nobody needs to stop in front of him.

not everyone can afford a nice tow vehicle! well not saying his jeep isn't nice it just isn't up to your standards. leave him alone he's just fine and having fun getting out there with his boat, probably even family and friends.

That Jeep at 55 mph has more stopping power than a 3/4-1 ton at 85 or 90.

Unless the guy was on his cell snapping pictures, I bet he was concerned about his and your safety. ;)

Your typical conventional cab semi is about 25K or less. Care to guess what type of ratio to weights they can legally pull? Triple trailer style?

So how much does that blow boat weigh?...just wondering. I just bought a Wrangler Sahara and put a hitch on it as a backup to the truck, just in case. So on that note if I hook up the Canyon at 450lbs. hull, add a grand for motor and rigging and no idea on a tandem Ellis trailer am I asking for trouble running around in my area.
My other concern I guess would be insurance, would they hose me if there was an accident?

I would assume much like most things a manufacturers rating is going to be under whats realistic for liability reasons.

I don't think that sail boat weighs north of the 3500# axles that trailer has but still no way to see around it is not cool.

I towed my Lavey with my 05 LJ around Tahoe several summers back and it was a scary deal. Never towed it again.

Good morning all...

Some of you take shit too personally!! Yes he is being unsafe, yes I was being unsafe taking pics of him and posting on the freeway. I really don't care what he does because after watching him make his lane change totally blind, I got the hell out of his way. I didn't stay in front of him either. The trailer doesn't have breaks so its probably just a touch under 3000# total. I have a similar Jeep just that its the unlimited (longer) its tow rating is 3500# with nothing different gut the rear axle and a longer wheelbase. So with that being said, can it stop it? Possibly. Will it do it in control with about a 95" wheelbase and no trailer brakes? Probably not.

So to those who got the joke of "safety first", Thanks ;)

For those who came to this guys defense, Have a wonderful day and drink lots of water today. Its going to be hot out and I hope you can stay cool.

I've used mine to move my Ebbtide around (about 4500# on trailer) it doesn't like it. I towed my last boat with it also. It was 3000#. It did fine, but it wasn't very wide and I could see past it. This guy couldn't see, and that was the biggest problem.

I've done a lot that I shouldn't while driving!! ;) I don't fault the guy for going boating, but at least bring a friend along that can hang out the window and make sure nobody is in the way when you need to move to the right! :D:D

Stand your ground my friend. He's close to 2x the towing capacity with no way to see around it. Your comments are note worthy. Besides it's a blow bote and I am sure that fucker has tacked the harbor inlet causing major boater ruckus anyway. Fuck that guy just because. :):D

No Doubt! That's what I love about HH the bridge & narrow channels keeps doucheblows from tack racing.

Furthermore just like we bag on people for owning/not owning this type or that type of custom performance boat, I'm sure the fixed keel blow boters bag on this guy for his swing
