Same. I see folks listing the model RV I am interested in at 2022 list price, but it is a 2018/2019 model.

When I ask what the real price is I am usually told to F off. Those that purchased in the last 3 years to get into an RV forgot RV depreciate the moment you drive them off the lot.

The last one I looked at. Dealer selling new 23 model at 245k, used seller has unit listed at 285. Exact same RV and options. I offered 185k over the phone and got hung up on. Offered dealer 200 and got the same response.

Agreed, I am debating on going the new route or older route. I try to get info from both sides to make a decision when I things settle down. A few I have talked to said the newer trailers tow better, yet on the other hand folks have 2006-2012 trailers and say upgrading the trailer springs/shackles and such made a world of difference towing. On one hand I would like to have a mid 2000's diesel pusher and a 26-28' toy hauler for different trips versus a 100k+ rv or fifth wheel.

My buddy who is a RV wholesaler said the same . Every thing he is seeing is 1-3 yr old rvs are upside down by 50% . Also RV lots are full of new 2022s still. He is seeing the repos and insurance fraud ticking up quickly also
I bought a 2022 Grand Designs Transcend trailer in March of this year from a dealer. They were selling it as used for $32k. It had never been used by whoever bought it. Still had the protective plastic on the recliners and some of the appliances. Salesman said it had sold new several months back but the guy never made a payment on it.. they took it back.

I to was at perris spedway last night funny thing the announcer kept say come back for the next night of distraction September 19 but that is a Tuesday the actual date is September 16
As for rvs I have found it better to hit the hotel unless the place you want to go has no hotels or places like Glamis and you need to take the toys but for Glamis I have been just towing the buggy out and just load up and head to the Quechan casino for the night the crew i go with no longer dune at night and just go in and watch tv at nights I need to find a younger crowd to dune with
Also renting an Rv has worked out well
Awesome you were there. Canyon who won the main, that's the group we were with. This was the 4th event we have attended and my son and I are intrigued. I hope to hell intrigued is all that is because I really don't need this but hell that looks fun on a nickel budget. We will be on the 16th of Sept.

Rob #6 went out with a 3" hole right through his front tire and through the actual rim.
Casey his daughter #16 Broke a tie rod which took her out.
Canyon running his car like a boss on an inside rear flat.
Nicest group of folks. They are all lower river people.

We own an Emerald CRA Membership so I don't need a river trippin motorhome as we just use their cottages and keep everything stored out there.
The only motorhome use is to Ocotillo at Thanks Giving so Ill have to work on that thing before then.

It’s probably the same as cars, where its considered used if title has been issued 👍

We've rented a Class A twice and a Class C once. Enjoyed the trips, but never enough to ever own one. Will rent when the need arises. We rented a lake front condo (10 feet from the sliding glass door to the beach) for 15 years every summer at Tahoe for a week. Great time there. Thought about buying, but didn't want to be tied to a place. Ended up buying an immobile home in a Marina Resort 15 years ago in the Sacramento Delta. Space rent, utilities, 26' slip, insurance, etc. runs 1k/month. Up until last year, we used it approx. 48 weekends a year. Less than an hour, door to door looking at the river for all but 15 minutes of the drive. You can feel the blood pressure dropping as you drive. Grounds are immaculate, secure, 1/4 of the residents are full timers, rest are weekenders. Family owned since 1937.

The guy running the 3/4 ton 4x4 red and white Chevy pickup looks close to being very competitive maybe a little more HP
That was my first time attending went with friends that go regularly
Lower river people are my kinda people

That kind of racing is fun but a wanted to try racing the 24 hours of Lemons way more seat time and you need lots of drivers so more people will put time and money into the build

RV market here is whatever term is beyond “bloodbath” is.

Might the pontoon market be close behind? If there’s a market primed for a severe correction it’s the unbelievable inflated aluminum tube industry. Put $120k of motors and a bunch of RV furniture on a pile of aluminum and charge $350k for it. I guess I’m glad they got it while they could…🥸

I’m down for a RDP 24 hours of Lemons team. I’ve done several of them. The racing fun for the buck is unparalleled.

I was looking for a specific motorhome for 8 months straight in early 22’ they were holding on prices and I didn’t want to over pay knowing we would see a slow down. I finally found the “one” and had a deposit sight unseen 1 hour after I saw it listed. The dealer was selling on consignment at $260, I offered $220 the owner came back at $230 and I said sorry final offer at $225 and he accepted. The crazy thing is after I bought I’ve been still looking at ones that come for sale thinking I’d see a huge price drop but it hasn’t happened on these Entegras, they are still holding at 250+ for a 2016 or newer. If prices drop it’s all good since this is the one for us and I bought it with 12,000 miles so it should last the next 10 years for us.

What's the next level?

I want a Thor aria 4000. If I could find a bunk house with a drop down in the front I’d consider a tag axle etc.. but I haven’t really seen any of the larger ones that fit the bill as well as the aria 4000

well since you have experience the rules say 500$ maximum on the car purchase but no limit of cage, safty equipment, tires, fuel cell ect what I have a problem with is spending good money on a piece of crap that has no value before or after the build but they can asses added lap penalties for a more expensive car or 10$ per violation
what is the maximum penalties and do lots of entries just pay the fines
I would rather start out with a street stock or some other previous race car so the basics of cage and Safty and the time required are already done

RDSUX RACING has a ring to it or RD RACING SUX

Where we bought our boat the owner told me he has to put in his orders for boats in the summer. He said they get delivered around Dec - Feb. He has a pretty large storage area off a road we travel. Usually. this time of year the storage area may have a few boats or none. This year it is half full.

Just an observation, not sure if they changed the delivery of new boats or these are left from this summer.

Wasn't it just 4 years ago that RV lots were full? It’s only been the last couple of years they have been empty. This is not something new that we are seeing. Perhaps the buying experience will just get back to what it was, and not some inflated bubble.

If your car is “too nice” they typically assess penalty laps. It is usually for performance mods. If you put a $2000 set of coil overs or they look under he car and everything is new they will assess penalty laps or fines. It is usually not a big deal, if you have a story and talk them through the car, they are pretty good about it.

The cheapest way forward is to just buy a car with most of the safety equipment in it. They have a classified section for people selling their Lemons cars.

I looked this race up and is the only place its held near so cal is at Santa Cruz and that seems to be the closest raceway?

The red and white chevy pickup won the race 6 weeks ago. I think the driver has more talent than his truck however thats the whole point of this type of racing I suppose.

I have a 91 Laveycraft Sebring that I am considering donating to the racetrack.

Yep I'd rather stay in a hotel or VRBO.

Every time I start that RV pictured a special imaginary printer spits out a list of things to fix, modify, smog, and on and on.
Worst part is I have to drive it and deal with the ever increasing assholes on the road. I'm always towing something as well.

I could consider a 5th wheel down the road since I already own the truck to pull it but thats 10 years out min and even then...yuck.
VRBO and Hotels.com are so easy. Point and click and you have a nice place. Have fun and then leave. Oh yes get the car washed when you get back home.

We have several friends who bought campers over the last few years. We've tagged along on trips a couple of times, but have just rented something for the trips. If we go on 1-2 trips per year, it's much easier to keep renting something that's 1-2 years old that someone else can worry about maintaining.

Thor owns a lot of brands, hard to get away. “Thor” Tiffian models have had issues when they took over.

We've owned an RV for the last 10 years

we do the desert thing as a family... 5 day stays are the norm, and there are no hotels or lodging choices, so the RV thing is a must. If we didn't do the desert hobby, I don't think we'd own one. Yeah they're fun, and we do try and use it here an there in the non desert season... But something is always broken or needs attention, maintenance, keeping them clean etc gets pricey, and even spots at campgrounds etc. I was quoted $1100 for 2 nights at Newport Dunes.... by the time I fueled up, loaded / unloaded / possible wash or detail, we could have just stayed at a pretty nice hotel.

So yeah, I see a lot of used RV's hitting the market in the future at a discount. New stuff has always been "discounted" other than covid times, and the dealers seem to be running high on inventory, so that stuff will be going on sale. Most people didn't know what they were getting into when they made their RV YOLO purchase, and you can tell when their RV is hanging 2' passed their sidewalk or it is bigger than their house 🤣

We do a ton of desert camping as well. It’s the main reason we have an rv.. although I will say the while I love watching the kids offroad.. our big rv trips around the country every year are my personal favorite.

Credit scores of 800+ and we landed a small loan at 6%. My wife is Asian.....she's "Alright" when it comes to money management. We'll pay this sucker off rather quickly, so it's all good!

😎
Where did you get 6%? How much down and years?

So, what is the takeaway of this thread for buyers? Do we wait longer or act now?

I would love a motorhome but also a toy hauler. This will carry us all over the place. Beach, desert, river, national parks, etc. We rented a motorhome twice and it was great. But, when we drove thru Zion and other places, it sucked not having a car to drive around. Granted, we could pull a car behind a motor home, what if I want desert toys? Then I need to buy a motorhome and a trailer? I dont have space for both, so that takes me back to the toyhauler route.

I know jack about them...Last one we had was a brand new Weekend Warrior 32ft bumper pull back in 2007. I love the Grand Design/Momentum ones, but way more than I want to spend. There are a lot of nice ones out there that just seem insanely priced....Do you buy used or new...This thread has left me with so many questions LOL

In your case of you don’t have the room for rv and trailer. I’d get a 5th wheel and call it a day.

We do the class c trailer deal for desert. We've never had a problem just pulling in the slides and driving around town when on a road trip. We don’t hook up the sewer hose unless it’s full or we’re about to leave. It’s only 30ft so can park pretty easily.

All of these configurations are available because everyone’s needs and wants and finances are different. In our crew there are setups from $600k showhaulers to rooftop overland setups on Jeeps and everything in between. If you have friends it’s good to be on the same page with setups and toys so you can do the group trips. Reality is that you do what works for you at a specific time and swap it out if your needs or wants change. If you can’t or don’t want to take the hit of buying new stuff then buy used. My thought is that in order to really enjoy these types of things it shouldn’t be a financial burden in any capacity and if the thing just goes away it shouldn’t really affect you, but that’s just my opinion 🤷‍♂️

I am the only one in my group lol. Likely would have folks that want to tag along all of a sudden. I think toyhauler works now then motorhome down the road. At least that’s how it works out in my head.

I have never bought anything new. Ever. I like buying used because I like to find something that someone with similar taste set up and I can buy it and run. Sounds like used is the way to go.

Your threads and believe it or not, the under glow lighting (lol) and all the other upgrades you did made me want the RV program. Just know I can’t afford yours!

We haven’t even discussed price! You can’t afford not to own it! It’s a river house, a cabin in the Forrest, a beach house, you name it! See I’m saving you millions!

120 for you my friend..

VRBO and Hotels.com are so easy. Point and click and you have a nice place. Have fun and then leave. Oh yes get the car washed when you get back home.
Total different experiences.

I am the exact same way. I have only ever bought one thing brand new and it was a jet ski. Save so much money getting something used and setup the way you like. A little cleaning and maintenance and good to go.
