So I just ordered new awning fabric for our rv, old one in great condition other than the first 6-8 inches nearest the coach. Sun bleached & dried out of course.
Question is protecting that 6-8 inch portion? What have you used/seen/tried?
I've seen the plastic pipe during storage dealio but I'm thinking more along the lines of a permanent application.

Ours has a ‘corrugated’ ~10” that rolls up last and protects the fabric. Not sure if they offer anything like that for retrofit.

this is the closest thing I can find online

Not to hijack This Thread but is there any recommendation on a mobile awning guy to repair/ adjust awnings in the SoCal area? My new to me trailer has one out of alignment and one that needs to be repaired if possible.

I use a couple pieces of 4" drain pipe with about 2" cut out of it that snaps over the awning...the flared ends make it so you can slide a few pieces together.

If I was getting new fabric, I'd order it with the aluminum section for the last foot that covers everything up when it's retracted.

Yes , get fabric with weather guard
What kind of DIY attempts have you seen outside of the drainage pipe?
I've been deliberating at spraying a layer of Flex-Seal on those 8-10 inches??🤷‍♂️ I've used it on those plastic coated foam pool floats with pretty good results.
Guess I'll do some testing on the old fabric.🤓😎

Jack might be able to fix it for you.
