Steve Tripp of RPM just sent me this video of his latest creation!

114+ mph with just 680 horsepower from a naturally aspirated 565!

What an awsome looking boat!

Enjoy,

Chris

Looks great... I bet a light weight Ilmor 725 with Indy drive would be a hot setup, capable of 120+....

Sick video...and rigging is as well....wonder if those are batter box tops beneath those plates...either way looks like all wiring runs underneath...very clean and fast to boot.

Always loved these 26's.

Would love to see a side by side F26 and RPM 26 with the same power. :thumbsup

Based on the company being located in Harpersville, AL I would have to say lake Logan Martin or some other part of the Coosa river.

Pretty bitchen river right there. He was at speed for a good long time. Prolly covered just a couple of miles of flat water...

While watching the Vid..... I KNEW that life-line statement was coming.

You see the blurg at the end of the video selling back seat rides for Desert Storm 2011?

Wanted on of these way back when....That Quad Rotor would have been Bad Arse in there! The prices he told me at the LA Boat show were silly low! Oops my my behalf on this one. And Not buying LkQx at $3.50 ipo :p

Yes, I also knew that was coming after about the third pass during the video. I was at least wearing the lanyard!

By the way, the quad rotor would have been fun!

The good thing is the prices haven't gone up much but the fit and finish and build quality have improved significantly since we met at the LA show. I am pretty sure I still have your business card in the top drawer of my desk!

This is just a guess, but I'm gonna say if that boat does 115 with a single and just a tad shy of 700HP. Twin 300's would probably hurt the top end. But it might run 105 all day long and save a fortune on fuel :D

I think it would be pretty damn close as far as top end numbers. Would be badass to try though!

Does it have a full cuddy down below and STILL run those kind of numbers with that power?

Steve, Is a very nice guy, I meet him at Desert Storm 2010. His Boats are bad ass and the fit and finish is top notch. They needed better water at Desert Storm .

Love the colors of the boat.

By far my favorite single engine cat!:D Shame insurance disagrees with me ever owning one.

Any plans to ever do a bigger model, say 32ish? Would be incredible. Of course the timing is not good for that now unfortunately.

There is a full cuddy below...on that particular boat it is just carpeted with no seats/bearth etc for performance sake.

An interesting note is that right after running several 114mph passes for the video...he took a couple of friends aboard (370 lbs of extra weight) and was able to do several 112 mph passes.

Best speed to date was 117 mph with a b-blades prop...but it broke an ear off.

I would love to see what a pair of egg-beaters would do on this boat as well... along with a 725 ilmore/indy drive package.

Wowser!

Very nice cat with lot of freeboard for a 26 footer. I'd want the 29' model ,since most of my boating is in the ocean where I'm more comfortable with twins.

I've researched the two companies and I like the 26 by RPM better , albeit a 29' by RPM would be more suitable for twins . Yes/No ? The 26's engine bay shows that it would need to be modified to accomodate twins to sit low inside for best low CG.

There is one of the RPM cats out there with a little over 1000 hp that does over 132 mph. It was one of the earlier boats, and isn't as efficient as the new ones that Steve is building... but still an awsome boat!

As to the windscreen, its height and angle were designed in a wind tunnel for optimum speed and cabin comfort...you can literally speak in a normal voice at over 100mph and easily carry on a conversation.

Riding in or driving this boat is simply amazing!

Interested in how the windscreen is fabricated or what its made of?

I really love the boat, just not totally sold on the windscreen.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not sold on canopies either. And I have a canopy boat now. But If I make a change, I'm thinking I was something similar to what Dave is doing with the 31/35's or even Eliminators wrapped screen.

A 130/140MPH 26' hotrod would be interesting :D

RvRrat - all of the windscreens you listed are made the same way. The are heated and formed in a mold. DCB's is "pieced" in the middle which makes for a nice two piece design but gives you a huge blindspot out the front. Eliminator's is similar to our design except for the piece that they use to cover the seams which comes down to preference and visibility. The only other difference is probably in the thickness. We use 3/8" acrylic, DCB uses 3/4" (I believe) and Eliminator uses 1/2". We can easily use any thickness due to the design of our mold we have just found that 3/8 works very well. We have not had a single crack. Part of this is how you attach the windscreen to the boat. Our fasteners are a multi-piece setup that alows the windscreen to float slightly and the screws do not come in contact with the acrylic. They attach through a bushing and are isolated from the windscreen with a rubber washer.

DCB's is done in a mold that was made for them specifically. Ours is made in a mold that we built in house and provided to the fabricator. Eliminator's is built in a mold that is used for multiple builders with the windscreens being trimmed to the builders specs.

Not in any way saying that ours is neccessarily better or knocking anyone else's design. They are all very similar to the point that it is really a preference deal. They all have the flexibility of being changed.

The only other real difference in our design is how we carry the windscreen all the way to the back of the boat. That is done specifically to keep the flow of air from entering the cockpit. All of the high pressure air that you are forcing around the cockpit is "looking" for a place to go. As soon as you start sloping down the windscreen at the back it allows that air to enter the cockpit. This does three things - 1) beat the crap out of the backseat passengers. 2) slow the boat down by using the vertical back seat as a wind break. 3) allows the aerodynamic lift of that air to be utilized as it flows over the downward roll in our hatch design. If you ride in the center back seat of your canopy boat, you can understand the first item because canopies create a venturi effect that exagerates the problem in the backseat.

Hopefully this answered your questions.

Steve Tripp has spent a medium sized fortune in time and dollars engineering these boats...not just alone...the boat was his design and his vision, but he was smart enough to get some help by "buying" info and technology, and assistance from some of the best in the Hi Perf boating world as we know it.

I dont think there is anything out there that compares to it.
And unlike most of the 26 to 28 cats being built today....it is an 100% ORIGINAL design. It is not a slightly changed copy of an American Offshore bottom, or a Talon, or an Eliminator.

I know how original it is, because I saw it when it was just CAD drawings in RHINO in his laptop, and personally was privleged enough to watch it progess fom CAD drawings to a "go for a ride" boat.

He has also taken rigging to a new level of standard , as evidenced in the pics.

As far as canopies go, they belong on race boats and F-16s, not boats. I have a bud with a F-26 DCB and canopies SUCK.

As far as the rear wind in the cockpit, I have ridden in many 26 to 32 foot cats at 115 to 128. Skaters, Spectres, American Offshores, Eliminators, Talons and DCBs. In most of them you need to weigh 350 pounds or you will get sucked out of the rear seat at those speeds.

I was riding early this week with Shaun Torrente in his 28 Skater, we were testing props for Dewalt. In the front seat, you have to wear goggles at 114, or hold your sunglasses on your face. In the back seat, at 112 with 4 people, the 2 people in the back are holding on to keep from getting sucked out of the rear seat.

Steve Tripp's Redline 26 is an awesome boat with great amenities, luxury and features. I love Skaters, and its good to have friends that own them, but if I was in a buying position, I'd by a Steve Tripp RPM 26.

Heres a few pics of the Skater we were testing props on. I wish we had been using an RPM 26 to test them. I cant wait to see somebody put (2) 300xs or (2) or (3) 300 Verados on a RPM 26.

Great video Steve.....

This boat looks phenomenal, and it is wonderful to see a builder embracing the high performance rigging, construction and innovative design and having these kinds of performance numbers.

That is pretty handily faster than the Revolution with similar power, which was the fastest boat rigged with those Ilmor motors at the time. We only ran 107 with similar power, so putting another 8 on top of that is really bad ass, and with a beautifully rigged boat no less.

Love it! Welcome to the boards.

Trust me guys, I will say that Steve is one of the best at rigging he is very anal when it comes to the building of his boats:thumbsupI have been on him to pull my motor and slap it in his, it would be a 138mph boat :champagne: for all you facebookers out there check out RPM page@

http://www.facebook.com/modelcandicemarie#!/pages/Revolution-Performance-Marine/137786836258750

And here is another video of Steve running my boat right before we headed up to Desert Storm, but yes he doesn't have his jacket on, but this boat is so stable at any speeds, it doesn't do anything funny when I was driving mine @ 132 it was boring.

their website says they can offer a single big block or twin small blocks....

Incorporating a beam of 101" with a large engine compartment the Redline is capable of accepting a single big block, or twin small block stern drive power, allowing many performance options for the customer.

The RPM would win.

90MPH with a 525

I think an F with the same power is maybe 85.

Their press release said they hit 100 mph with a 525. I wonder if that was a pre-production version of the boat?

http://www.rpmpowerboats.com/press_release.htm

During initial testing, the 26 Redline equipped with a single Mercury racing 525 showed its performance potential by consistently achieving the elusive 100MPH mark.

and fwiw - Powerboat tested a 525 @ 95.1 mph

At our 2007 Performance Trials, the single-engine cat was the fastest one we?ve ever tested with a Mercury Racing HP525EFI engine at 95.1 mph.
