W use a Roomba for daily vacuuming, we have 4 dogs. Its great for keeping the hair down. We have to empty the bin daily. Its not a replacement for your regular vacuum though. Highly recommend of you have dogs. I have thought about replacing it with the Shark robot vacuum, their regular vacuum kicks our Dysons ass.

I have a Roomba in my LA pad and one in my Parker pad. They pick up so much shit that you don't see. I'm a HUGE Fan!

We have one and it was great when we had carpet. House is all tile now so we don't use it as often. Agree with what was said above, won't replace your actual vacuum, just helps you stay ahead of it because you can run it every day.

Also, if you are OCD about your vacuum lines in the carpet being straight this isn't the vacuum for you, the pattern is random as hell throughout the place. My wife hated it at first.

If you end up with carpet again and also like the Roomba, get a new high end unit with home mapping. After mine runs, the room has perfectly straight and even vacuum lines across the whole carpet.

OP, I'm a big fan of my Roomba... I'd suggest getting at least the 7 series, but If I were to buy a new one it would be the 9 series.

We have a floor vac like this dont remember the brand. We have all travertine floors downstairs and it works good but my only complaint is that the vacuum gets stuck on some of our think area rugs and the brushes on the vacuum knot up in the rug. Sometimes damages the rug and you end up having to get up several times to get the thing unstuck. Not sure if all of these vacuums are the same and have the same issue.

We have been using a Roomba on our wood floors for several years. It runs daily while we are at work. Works great with some issues. You will have to make sure that cords, cables etc are out of the way. Ours also would sometime get stuck on a small table leg that was parallel to the floor. It actually wound up burning out one of the wheel motors. easy fix with spare parts from the mfg. Its not a substitute for a corded Dyson but we love our Roomba.

We have a Shark with wood and tile floors and can not believe how much they pick up. Ours cleans our open floor plan downstairs. We have one small dog and need to empty the tray every other day and it is full of hair. With 4 Jack Russell's you will to empty it daily. Here is a list of pros and cons, and even though the cons is a long list, I still recommend.

Pros
Cleans nightly on a programmable schedule.
Works well and picks up tons of hair and small particles.
Cuts down the need to swifter to about every other week or so.
Cleans hard floors and carpets/rugs and has no problem going over transitions.

Cons
Noisy - Often wakes my up bumping walls and furniture. We run a loud fan to create white noise, which I do not prefer as someone could be in my house and wouldn't know it.
Occasionally (once a week or so) gets stuck between chairs, under couch, on the door mat, etc. and doesn't finish.
Dog doesn't like it and will bark at it, but sleeps in our room with the door closed and fan on now.
Have to make sure you pick everything (dog toys, shoes, etc.) off the floor before going to bed.
Have to close bathroom and laundry room doors as it tends to get stuck in those small rooms.
Have to empty the tray frequently.

Ok first off I’m on 10 acres
Dogs shit outside(doggy door)
We have a regular shark upright
Lots of polished travertine and bamboo hard wood floors
Thinking out of the box for a maintenance saver

It's great for maintaining the floors between deep cleanings. Carpet and area rugs too.
A lot of times Jan will run it while we're out for dinner or errands so it doesn't bother us. Dog hated it at first, barked and wanted to bite it. Now she'll lay there and watch it and move when it comes toward her😁

Roomba trick. Take scotch tape and white paper. Cut to size of the 4 sensors underneath and cover. Paper must have tape on both sides for reflection. Your Roomba will no longer get stuck on cliffs aka rugs. I hated the damn thing until I did this.

I have a Roomba currently. I used to have two Neato robot vacs and feel like they did a better job. When this Roomba dies, I'll go back to the Neato.

With this much dog fur, it helps with daily touch ups, but it will never be able to replace actual vacuuming.

We have one made by Eufy, model 115

It does a great job, but it’s a dumb machine that randomly scoots around. It was $200 and reviews were good.

My sister has one that uses lidar to scan and map the rooms, and methodically moves in a grid pattern. I think it does a better job but it also cost $800.

Was at my cousins over T.G. They have the most furry dog ever, some type of long hair cow dog. I guess they make some of these robot vacs special for pet hair. Scott said it was a world of difference. Damn thing even homes to it's charger. Still needs a daily cleaning though. For hard surfaces I think they are a great invention.

I bought the $149 Deebot off Amazon.

Thing works good after you learn about cords, socks and furniture thats just the right height for it to jam itself into. Bottom line its full of hair and dirt every day so it's doing something.

Not sure if the ones asked about are that much better to justify the much higher price?

Be sure to buy it from Costco!!!
I have had a few incidents with mine involving my dog... both were exchanged for a new one no questions asked.

Best purchase ive made in 2020 was a dyson v11 cordless vacuum. We have two dogs and I use it daily. My wife says I have a problem I use it so much.

The romba always had issues for us.

Can you take a Roomba upstairs to the second level and will it remember the different floor plans?
What about taking it to the lake house when we go, will it remember that too?

Started out with the cheaper $300 unit and didn't like it. Just randomly drove around and missed spots, couldn't find its home etc.. Returned it and got the 981 model. MUCH better. It follows a pattern like a human would, finds its base to recharge and resume till finished, and is easier to get hair out of the brushes

I have the Neato D7 and like it. It maps out your house and then lets you set the zones for cleaning. Also has “No Go” lines you can draw on the map and it wont cross. Does have trouble with a couple of the thicker throw carpets that we pick up. It also sends me a map when done of where it has cleaned The wife’s favorite part is that it leaves “lines” in the carpet like when you use regular vacuum

I have two Roomba vaccuums in my Hangar and they do a great job of keeping the painted floors clean. Before I had them I use to have to wash the floors once a month, but with the Roombas only need to wash the floors about every 6 months.
