The fan tail of the Queen Mary is a great vantage point of the finish, and the Maya hotel is fun for the start. There are better spots to see the start from but the Maya vibe is way cool.

Walk from the hotel,, or pay to park at Queen Mary,, they have not charged to go on the ship to watch in the past few years that I have been on it.

So, the fantail of the Queen Mary is the place to watch the finish and it is free to get on? What time should someone be down to the QM by to see the finish?

Its pretty damn good spot, in theory race starts @ 9:00 am (weather permitting) first skiers back should be right around 1 hour after the start. It is a short walk from the Maya hotel to the Queen Mary (10-15 minutes) Watch the start from the hotel, have a drink or 2 and then walk to the QM for the finish. Not sure if they will charge at QM or not but its most likely only a few bucks if they do.

Park at the Queen Mary.

Now you can walk the sidewalk from the Queen to the Maya and see all the boats. The start is hard to see.

I am not sure but I think you can just walk on the Queen Mary and get a cup Coffe and watch the race from the upper decks.

I think Its best to view the start from the shore behind the start, I thinks its 2nd st or PCH. between the oil islands. The finnish Probably the queen mary or in front of the maya hotel. I havent spectated since they changed the finish location. First time spectating, and not skiing in over 5 yrs. Bummed

If you want to watch the start from the bluffs its Ocean Blvd, pull down any little side street between Alamitos and Orange and you can park and watch the start

Tell them to change out the "LUCK" factor in those helmets

Uh-Oh.... Is there something I should know about this?? :p

FYI - Still not too many boats here in Long Beach yet - There are about 3-4 boats in the parking lot at the Maya, and about 2 boats in the parking lot at the launch ramp - I guess tomorrow will be a big day for people showing up.

It looked like Warpath did a practice run today - I saw them putting launching the boat and then loading it back up a few hours later.

should not be a problem...we missed two days of racing this year in Parker due to boat problems...but both problems happened on a Sunday and your racing on a Saturday so you should be OK

We will be there from Thursday to Monday. Staying at the Marriott next to the ramp. I'm going to miss the friday night drink fest because I have a wedding to go to.

You mean you will be arriving @ the drink fest fashionably late i hope...;)
