Going on a road trip with several friends. Looking at staying at the Riverside Inn and a ride on Hell Gate jet boat. Just wanted to get a few ideas of other things in the area. 👍

Fish, hike, shoot shit, rafting. Make sure you check out the Illinois river while there, clearest river you'll ever see.

Not a whole lot to do in Grants Pass except river shit

Some of the coolest racing you'll ever see is on the rouge

We will also have Harleys so day rides is part of the plan. Will put Illinois RIver on the list. 👍 Is there a specific area to best see the Illinois River?

We stay at the riverside when we go there and love it. The jetboat thing is fun, especially for the kids.

I’ve never been on the Rogue River, but I’ve rafted the Upper Klamath River a couple of times with guide services from the town of Rogue River. I’d imagine the mail boats are fun, but if they’re still rafting the Klamath (it’s been about 20 years since our last time), I can definitely recommend that.

I live 10 minutes from the town and river. What do you want to know?
Just looking for suggestions like you can’t not here or there. Suggestions on places to eat. Day trips. Must sees or the like. 👍

The roads up there are second to none for riding. I'd highly recommend taking the road down through the redwood forest to crescent city from Grant's pass

Also in the other direction the road to crater.lake and the highway that connects up to bend 👍

Great to hear that the roads are nice. Wife’s grand parents lived on the coast and we went to crescent city a couple of times. I like that idea. Also crater lake is on the agenda. 👍

Fun fact. A member of RDP owned those mail boats during that time.
I was just going to say the same thing🤣🤣
Really? This was back in early 2000's I think. I know that because the boat we were riding on had 2 of the new GM badass Vortec 8100 engines. My dad and uncle convinced the driver to open the engine bay doors to show them the new hotness of crate motors. Lol!

Well, I would do a raft trip through Galice resort. Thats about a four-hour adventure. Start at Hog Creek! Take highway 199 (Redwood Hwy) down to the coast and check out the Redwoods and the Smith River. (Someone said something about the Illinois river, yes, its nice and clear and beautiful, but overrun with druggies unfortunately) Then you can come back into Oregon and sight see up as you head up and go to Gold Beach on the coast and take the jet boats up the river as well, that's a beautiful trip! Of course, one of the must see is Crater Lake! Always beautiful and stunning!

Now if you're bringing a boat, I would suggest going to one of the most spectacular lakes on the west coast. Shasta Lake! That will make you buy a summer home in Redding!

That sucks about the Illinois we used to camp where the Illinois dumps into the Rogue for the jet boat races. But that was back in the 90's

My buddy lives on the Applegate River, bad ass place but haven't been up there in about 30 yrs, river was low then but we floated it and got drunk. Went to some horse racing also but no sure if those are still around.

Florence, OR is a neat little town.
Easy ride from Eugene (thats the route we take).
You could run N or S from there to see other towns?

There is Astoria OR
Home of the Goonies!

Dont know if the Graveyard Cars show has a showroom but they are in Springfield OR (next to Eugene)

Harry and David cannery/factory is in Medford--they do tours as well. Something to do only once.

There should be plenty of car shows going on up there around that time.

My parents have home in Medford, overlooks entire valley. Its the place for SoCal expats. So if anyone is looking to buy there--we have a home coming to market soon.

Its damn near impossible to get on the Applegate anymore. Houses up and down it have closed off access. SUCKS! We still have the horse racing but its only for about 5 weeks as it get to warm to run the ponies.

Theres the June Medford car show and the Central Point car show in July, as well as Grants Pass. They all pretty much suck anymore! For a car show you typically go to Cool April Nights in Redding. Then of course Hot August Nights in Reno.
Florence is fine if you're a left swinging NO balls kind of a sissy! You go that direction if you want to play on the upper dunes!
So what side of the valley do your parents live on?

Ya it's a lot better down there around Agness than it is up around Cave Junction. We spend many weekends playing down and rafting that area of the Rogue and Illinois.

Didnt know the cars shows were that bad now.
Think my Dad still takes his cars down. The Redding and Reno shows are to far for him to drive.
Florence was fun for coffee, ice cream artsy fartsy kinda stuff. Never been to the dunes out there.
Parents are on the east side--up on the hill.
