I get them on my cell and business phones. Lots of texts too. It's getting pretty terrible. I don't see it getting any better.

Turn ringer volume off unless you are actually expecting a call. If it’s anything important they can leave a message which you can retrieve at your convenience.

That works, but creates more problems.....

I use my phone for business, so I have to pick it up every time it rings. I also have to call customers all the time, and they never pick up because they figure it's probably a robo-call, then they get pissed off because I didn't ship on time because they didn't pick up the phone to answer my question. k

If Elon wants to make everyone love him.....he'll figure out how to shut these assholes down.

Yeah in your case it’s not optimal but most of us aren’t running a small business concern so it’s a good option for most of us.
BTW if I were expecting a call I would leave the ringer on.

Remember when the minutes were ours, we paid for them so it was illegal for the cellphone companies to sell our numbers? Those days were nice

I accept them but won't say anything, put them on speaker, and mute. Sometimes I'll delay putting them on mute so there is some background noise that triggers someone to join the call (some automated systems wait until a call is actually answered before putting one of their workers on the line).

Most of the time they just hang up once they get dead air. Sometimes I get some moron saying, "Hello? Hello?"

I do this for two reasons:

Waste their time as much as possible.

I think a lot of the automated systems note numbers where there isn't a response and drop them from the call list. I still get a few calls, but nowhere near the amount some of you seem to get.

It hasn't gotten any better since you last asked?
.
Seems you should be able to program your phone to only ring with numbers in your contact list.

Im old so I sometime forget what ive posted in the past, forgive me šŸ™
But in checking with some folks it doesnt seem like there is nothing you can really do to stop them, and even if I dont recognize the number I still answer it because some doctors and other folks have numbers i dont recognize :(

… @NEIGHBOR GIRL set my phone up so if they are not in my phone contacts, the phone doesn’t ring… Very effective… When I get up in the morning, I call every single number back… have yet to find any of them being a valid call… I will ask @ Neighbor Girl…how she did thatšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļøā€¦

I turned off unknown callers which helped 90%, only problem is i miss calls from doctors and they always call on a different number, small price to pay for peace.

I wondered if any ideas from before had any effect....
I am to the point I just don't answer mine unless I know the caller. If it's important & valid they'll leave me a message.

Do you think if trump made it illegal and stopped all the spam calls he would be more popular

F'ing kaiser calls from numbers that don't identify as kaiser. So I have to answer all 562 numbers.

… here’s what @NEIGHBOR GIRL sent to me… This would apply for iPhones only…

Settings scroll to> Phone > Call Blocking and identification > Click on silent junk callers…

… I just tried that… I don’t think that is correctšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Nobody has to answer any call from a doctor.
Every doctor, or their nurse, or their receptionist will leave a message. Usually even with a direct call back number.
The worst thing you can do is answer these scam calls, fuck with them, or call them back.
Virtually Every single call saying you owe money to anyone or anything is a scam. Any entity that you actually owe money to will send you a written notice.
PayPal, Apple Store, Norton antivirus etc are favorite mirror sites.
Same with emails. Any email saying your CC needs updated, or your annual fee has been charged (like for anti virus or MS 360) and has a link or number to dispute it is a scam.
ā€œYour annual fee of $699.00 has been charged, to dispute this charge call this number or click the link belowā€¦ā€
lol, swipe left delete.
Don’t EVER click that fucking link.
Go to your bank site and check, there will be no charge posted. They WANT you to click or call to dispute the fake charge so they can harvest your PII.
Not one single legit bank or pay site or vendor puts links in emails…unless it’s a log in link, and even then it could be a scam and…boom, you just gave them your log in info for whatever site they are pretending to be. ALWAYS go to the actual site to log in.

Usually the ā€œfromā€ address will be your name or email.
Click it twice to reveal the actual sender and 99 times out of 100 it will be ā€œSomaliafcku@ gmailā€
Don’t ever respond…ever.
That’s really the only way to lessen the problem.
I almost never get calls, and maybe one email a day at most.

I get these calls also but I never answer them and I block the number. I sometimes answer our house phone and then I get a ton more calls so I let the answering machine pick up and I listen to the message.

Rarely get any to my house phone. The fax picks it up after three rings so that usually gets you thrown off any auto dialer systems.

If you think it’s spam, don’t answer and don’t mess with them because when you do that, You’re notifying the dialer system that it is a valid number and they will keep reusing/reselling your phone number.

I haven't had too many lately, I'll answer and keep them on the line as long as possible. I have pissed some off so bad they blocked my number. It used to fun but not too many calls these days.

Blocking them isn’t always helpful these days, considering they often spoof numbers. Funny thing though, just last week my wife actually received one of those letters, by U.S. MAIL, telling her about the millions of found dollars she could share if she replied.
