In talking to good friends whom are at the river all this week it sounds like the Calif side of the river above Needles bridge got hammered from the recent storms. I have seen a few pictures and it is unbelievable, the dike is down in numerous areas, A 2 mile section of the railroad was washed away, dike road is washed away in numerous areas from huge washes that plowed through dike road and removed the dike itself. I also understand that there was tons of debris pushed into the river creating many new hazards to include boulders and new rock bars. My friends did not boat this week due to this and low water. Speculation is USBR may not release water until the dike is repaired in numerous areas it is down.

Example; The storm was so bad that a wash entered on the Calif side across from the private beach in Willow Valley and the mud and debris was carried all the way across the river and now the Willow Valley Beach on the AZ side is a mud bog.

Has anyone been on the river in this area since the storm and can report conditions?

Be careful everyone as it sounds like our river may have been changed dramatically from mother nature....

We call that house "Java Man" after the landscaper that did the home for an OC contractor. The wash next to the house did it's job, we use to take our carts down to the waters edge through the wash and smoke cigars and drink some beers. Awesome place to watch the river at night until the contractor allegedly bought the adjoining property/wash and closed it off.

To the OP, my park got hammered, to be honest this happens to the river a few times per year with the debris falling into the river, hopefully the debris won't cause issues. As for the water level, they won't release water until the river subsides a bit and from what I hear it's still high without the dam being open.

Hey Terry, see ya tomorrow.

I understand that our private marina is one big mud bog and cannot launch due to the debris and low water.....

Damn, and here I was being told the river was still running high, obvious the dam has been kept closed in an effort for the B.O.R. and the Army Corp to possibly access damage and problematic areas in the river. Be safe ladies and gents.

Terry, George said although the marina looks ok it is actually filled up with mud and cannot launch.... He went to Jack Smith this AM and said too low to launch there and huge big tree limbs sticking out of the water in the middle of the river in front of Jack Smith

Gonna be an interesting weekend. I will be launching at Jack Smith in the morning around 10:00 (as long as there is water).:( I will take some pics and post. I really hope it will be ok because I would hate to have to go up to Lake Mohave! I cannot stand launching up there especially on a holiday weekend!:thumbsdown

Willow Beach Resort was closed & boarded up in 1994, when we made a dam run, due to some people being killed (or something like that) from a flash flood. I remember pulling up to it looking for beer & only some old couple was there watching over the place. They told us the story, but my memory isn't what it used to be.
