Some memories are permanently on our brain.
I was a young lad, Mom worked at a bank and got free tickets.
Dad takes me to my First BIG League game. Needless to say first look at the field was AWESOME.
You can hear Vinnie on all the little pocket radios.
We are in the third row above the Giants dugout, about center.
I have a good look at Willie in the box, he has a little pivot with the back foot when he swings.
Whack, hits it somewhere towards left, he's flying down the line, fielder has the ball and
Wille rounds first and keeps going, helmet flys off his head, digging for second, Slides
SAFE.....Being a Dodger fan, I was annoyed and awed at the same time. And Wille did score eventually.
Needles to say as a then Dodger fan, I hated the Giants but had great respect for him.
And he is and always was a class act, Definitely one the GOAT's.....

I was lucky enough to play in 4 tournaments when he was in the event. Sadly never got to meet him but he was always very gracious & thoughtful. Incredible baseball player & better human best I could tell.
RIP

I’m old enough to have seen Mr. Mays play when I was a kid. Albeit he was in his mid 30’s by then he was still the best baseball player I’ve ever seen lace up a pair of cleats. He was a Man among Boys out there in Centerfield! RIP Sir!!!

For a second I thought it was the "but wait, there's more" guy. Then I thought didn't he die already?

Think I actually have a couple of his baseball cards
