Saw him a few times over the years, sad to see him go. Saw him at an awards show and he looked bad.

Damn. I had read a couple of months ago he was battling cancer...
Sadly, stomach cancer has an almost zero percent survival rate. There is very little blood flow in your abdominal area so chemo isn’t very affective, it’s nearly impossible to treat.

I just read on Glenn Beck's "BLAZE" that The Dixie Chicks and several other Toby Keith "HATERS" are openly Celebrating his death.

Can't be much more "EVIL" than that, "DAMN"!!

I was running all the beer sales at an event in Grand Junction Colorado called Country Jam in 2001.
Keith was one of the performers.
There was an issue that came up the day of the event that he was to be there in that the concert was a Miller Lite event and he was sponsored by Coors Light. His contract stated that 50% of the beer had to be CL which wasn’t gonna happen(we also carried CL at the wholesaler) So me and the promoters cut a deal with his people that we would have Coors Light in the Meet and Greet Hospitality Tent.
I have my guys set it up and I stopped by there 20 minutes before to be sure it was pouring and who is sitting there by himself, Toby Keith!
So I come through the opening and he says…What the F&$$ is up with that Miller Lite shirt!
I started laughing and so did he and I asked him if I could buy him a beer!
So we sat there talking for 10 minutes.
Good guy gone way too soon!

Toby Keith was one of the few musicians who had the guts to perform at Donald Trump's inauguration in 2017 and refused to back down from the pressure coming from the establishment to reject 45.

At the time, Keith said that many artists were envious that he had the gall to support Trump and told him they had committed to playing at the inauguration but backed down due to pressure.

In 2021, Trump gave Keith the National Medal of Arts.
He was known for his support of patriotism, which our country certainly could use now more than ever.
Rest in Peace, Keith.

I was in Louisiana around 93-94 at my Great Uncles house in Flatwoods. We were picking up parts at a couple of salvage yards around Alexandria and we stopped into a local gas station around 5-6 and asked the attendant where there was a good place to eat. He directed us to a ‘local’ bar that served food. His directions seemed a little sketchy once we turned off the black top down a gravel road with no lights on in sight. just about the time we almost decided to turn around we caught sight of some lights. This place was out in the middle of nowhere. Looked like something out of the movies a big bar almost in the swamp ( pine trees actually). We pulled in the lot and there was a tour bus out front. We went in and they had Toby Keith playing that night. The stage was like two feet off the floor and we sat at a table up close to the stage.

After his first set Toby Keith stepped off the stage and started visiting with everyone. He sat at the empty chair at our table and we talked for 15-20 minutes. I worked on heavy equipment and with his roughneck background we had some common stories.

He was a first class gentleman, very appreciative of his audience. We told him we just happend to be there and he thought it was funny that we didn’t come there specifically for his show. Interesting thing was he played many songs that night that didn’t come out on the radio till many years later.

A patriot and a regular blue collar success. Probably, and unfortunately something very rare. Watching interviews with him later showed just how much he appreciated military men, women and families as well as LEO’s. It wasn’t just a nod and a wink for publicity.

Dude!

I was at that Country Jam!

That year was sooo damn hot.

Chris Ledoux closed it down that year. He rode the sh*t out of a mechanical bull and didn’t skip a beat in his performance. That is one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen.

Ironically, the last time I saw Toby Keith he had Ned Ledoux as his opener.

I don't have any of his albums (tells you a little about my age) of have been to any of his concerts, but I have to admit his death really chokes me up. I immediately see America and patriotism when I hear his name more than any other artist.
