If we can go back to the subject, Motor Trend TV, the programming sucked. I quit watching it about 2 days after they killed the Velocity Channel.
To be fair, Discovery makes everything g worse too. What kind of idiot producer thinks it a good idea to play the same scene 7 times in a row? I was a deadliest catch fan…but timed it one day and watched the same shit for 9 minutes with 2 commercials….thats when I turned it off.

Tesla drivers aren’t car people, they wouldn’t watch a car show lol.
I'd the show consisted of wraps, sounds for the Cars horn, how to fix the crappy build quality, and features that make you feel better than ICE people it would be a hit

I was sad to see this. Roadkill was at its best when it was on Youtube, before Motortrend, before being sponsored by Dodge, etc.
Thats easy for a "fan" to say, i'm sure the business deals brought alot of capability and horsepower to generating all the content over the past decade.
@cyclone Thanks for birthing that show and giving us so many episodes, staying involved even after you moved back east. I prefer watching your Youtube content these days, and the drag boat content mixed in is awesome. Hope to see you continue for a long time!

Go back to ball games
You sure your not thinking of a Boyd Coddinton rerun?
Dave literally refers to his cars as junk!

It’s hard to make money on YouTube IMO.. unless you make and sell your own commercials in your own videos maybe?
It’s almost impossible to make money with forums but look at you go 😁.
Cleetus is out buying race tracks and helicopters, there must be money to be made in you tube. Lol

Cleetus kills it with merch sales, giveaway raffles (ticket and merch sales . . .) PPV live streams, and paid advertisers / endorsements.
Would be interesting to see what % of his annual earnings are from Youtube views, VS other sources.

Hours of entertainment. Takes old buckets and drives them across country under conditions I'm assuming you would not approve of 😂 😂 😂
It’s not that I don’t approve. It’s when every show is some dumpster diver shit show. 😂

How does a company go 41 billion in debt? I don't know anything about corporations but doesn't that number sound extremely high? My poor brain just can't comprehend that big of a number.
Already covered that is was the parent company and they are cutting costs. Maybe worth a debate, but this seems the problem with an expectation of growth with public companies.

The corporations are expected to grow or die. They buy of whatever they can to give the illusion of growth and wreck the culture of the acquired companies. It is no surprise that the coolness of RoadKill would get smashed by corporate compliance, risk management and revenue generation.

When shit goes sideways the kings, just sacrifice the servants without a second thought. The corporations don't give two shits about serving customers, they serve shareholders.

The good news is that it is pretty easy to buy cable TV time if you are so inclined and it is even easier to start up your own car culture enthusiast Youtube show.
It seems a great way to build a tax shelter for a guy or girl with a car collection addiction who likes being famous.

I tried to watch the shows on Motor Trend, but couldn't get past the "Jerry Springer" vibe to their programming. Since I couldn't find what I was looking for, I decided to start my own show that DOESN'T make car guys look dumb. I wanted something pure, that brings the masters of their craft to the public. If you get desperate or bored, check it out...

It’s was like a “how to” dumb ass production.

Seriously I don’t know why anyone would follow this guy.

Half his videos he has soy boi mouth. Another low testosterone production

Did Frieburger piss in your cornflakes or something? Jeez.

guess I better check his stuff against all the content you’ve offered…. Where do I find that again?

Thinking about it the show wasn't about the cars. It was about the adventure of getting out and seeing what this world has to offer and how do you get there? By car. They never had intentions of building a nice car nor is what the show is about. They just kept repairing it long enough to finish the adventure and educate others on repairs. A lot of people probably have the thought they need a nice car to get out. Lots of time wasted waiting on a nice car to be finished. Those 2 showed you can start living now with a POS bought sight unseen and make memories. They did do some episodes in style. I liked the Mt. Rushmore episode with the Mustang with the 6-71 blower.

Bummed to see it go, I've been watching their stuff for years. I hope they continue on Youtube or maybe someone else can pick them up? Mike and David both have fast as shit drag cars and are both a dying breed of gearheads. They were never trying to be a Boyd Coddington et al. I've met them and they both would stop what they were doing to talk cars. Even though Mike never commented on my 57' DGas big block install (Buddy who owns the Youtube channel races a badass shifter 55 Chevy)... Long video, but does have a couple small burnouts; the fenderwell tubs were rubbing on the tires and I didn't want to slice them.

And why does he have the audience to monetize all of the above? 🤔

I loved the roadkill shows. Love for my young boys to watch it and see the challenges these guys are faced with and don’t just call a tow truck. If my kid breaks down I want him to pop the hood and start investing not getting on his phone and calling the cavalry.

I also know a ton of young kids that have been inspired by these guys and others like vice grip. I know a kid that drove his mom from Sacramento to Tucson for the duct tape drags, she had a great time and started watching as well. He’s been buying old junk and fixing it up and having a blast. He just bought a sweet crown Vic that was an old cop car. Not a lot of kids doing that stuff these days.

Was it these guys that did the engine swap from a truck to a boat & back on the same day (24hrs?) on the launch ramp at elsinore? That was an awesome episode long ago.

"This is our last season"

I'm about 10 minutes into this video. So cool to see the progression and yet so sad to know it has come to an end.

Roadkill was a Real reality show.

Anyone who turns wrenches for a living, knows the trials and tribulations, of doing so.

Busted knuckles, cut hands, stripped threads, leaks, where there should be no leaks, and the Endless amount of frustration that makes you wanna bash your head against a wall...

And the elation when something Actually goes right! 🤣

Unlike most car shows, the guys from RK Never hid Any of that, and laid it all out there for everyone to see.

Clearly, some people think negatively about that.

And the few of us that understand those trials and tribulations, can totally appreciate that.

@cyclone - Thanks for the laughs, and letting a lot of us know, we are not alone in our frustrations.
