This one's going to sting a bit as he was the blueprint and the compass of a large chunk of my life, especially down here in Florida.

Full sails Jimmy.

That fucking sucks, No other way to describe it. I grew up on Jimmy Buffett, and love his music to date.

I remember when I was in school he had a concert that my folks went to. The next day was hat day. One of my teachers walked in with about a 3 foot parrot head hat and said we were going to watch a film that day and she sat through class with her head on her desk. Later on in life I theorized what happened.

Loved his music.

Well Shit, that just heart breaking news.

I recall he'd been hospitalized this past spring and cancelled his tours. Then I'd recently read about his new "Last Mango" 46' Freeman sportsfisher and was optimistic.

I'm confident there's a beautiful Salty Piece of Heaven awaiting you.
Thank you for sending my soul on countless escapes to islands of paradise through your music and words.

This was the first Jimmy Buffett song I ever heard and fell in love with his music. I revisit this video from time to time because it's a great song but more so because it brings me back to a time of my youth and really captures the feel of the '70s.

Music is a very personal thing and each artist and song can have special meanings to all of us. This is true especially when we are young and impressionable. I think that is why each generation clings to the music that was out when they were mid-teens to mid-twenties.

We've been losing a lot of the '60s and '70s artists now and with each one, a little piece of my youth goes with them. This one hits particularly hard. RIP Jimmy. Thanks for all the good times and memories.

My degree is in film and television production. Our directing instructor was roommates with Jimmy in college during the late 60s. He also played bass in Jimmy's band for a time. Met Jimmy through him once. Nice guy RIP!!!

Sold Corona for a fair number of years.
In the late 90’s he was sponsored by them.
We set up a Happy Hour promotion that he came to at the Sunshine Company in Ocean Beach then me and a couple guys took him over to South Beach Bar and Grill for fish tacos.
Cool Cat for sure.
I have this shirt from that tour here in Parker.
Guess I know what I’m wearing to Dinner tonight!

Not the greatest commercial success, but he related to and was loved by the people. Rest in peace, sad day.:(

Never was a parrot head but did enjoy some of his songs. And like @RichL said, always put a smile on my face.

A few years ago he was ranked by Forbes somewhere in the top 20 of all celebrities, worth well over half a billion.

Commercial success was probably not the right choice of words.

I was never able to see him live on account that people would pay any dollar amount to see him perform and to just get in the parking lot and party.

Parking lot parties were epic I understand and sometimes Jimmy would join in. The entire parking area....one massive party. Now thats cool.

Yes they were, he wouldn't go back to Glen Hellen because they wouldn't open the parking lot early enough for the party. Parking is usually 2 hours before Buffett wanted 8 hours.

Woke up to that news this morning, parents were parrot heads. I’ve been prepping my “cooks” for this weekend since 6…jimmy is playing throughout the house. It’s going to be a margarita weekend.

May he find refuge in that one particular harbor. Thanks for all the memories and songs jimmy!

… Didn’t know much about him in the early 90s… But I had some buddies who were into it ,,,not parrot heads… But into his lifestyle… A carload of us guys went and saw him at the Greek theater in LA… In a 63 Plymouth Valiant… my buddies would always stand up in the back row… … Things like Altamont… Well, the Indigo Girls opened up for Jimmy Buffett… And they were pretty good… When Jimmy came on the place went bonkers… My buddies just wanted to stand up in the back… I said screw this and I walked down and hung out with the people in the first couple rows… What a great show… Everybody had fun …
Don’t know how many people have been to the Greek, but parking is unbelievable… All the cars are just stacked together… We must’ve sat there for an hour in this little Valiant… that all it had was an a.m. radio???…

Sad news. I grew up listening to his music on the boat, probably like many of us on here. Full sails Jimmy, I'll have some rum tonight.
