I think his voice was real in Top Gun Maverick. In his documentary movie he made called VAL, he can barely talk. I had read that they used a combination of voice clips from previously recorded movies and interviews, combined with his Son's voice to artificially create his voice for narrating the movie.

It is worth a watch if you haven't seen it. He started video recording almost his whole life starting at a young age.
Ok I watched it. Definitely a trippy dude before his cancer. Its also a reminder that rich people can suffer from everyman problems and wealth and fame wont change the ultimate outcome.

Did he still own his ranch in New Mexico? Thought I remember him raising bison or something.

Read an article about him and Kurt Russel that after Tombstone wrapped they exchanged gifts. Kurt bought Val a plot in Boot Hill Cemetery and Val bought Kurt an acre overlooking Boot Hill.

I remember an interview with someone from the cast of Tombstone, can't remember who, this person was asked how it was to meet Val and he said he didn't know because Val was Doc Holiday all the time they were on set and off.
It would only be fitting if Val Kilmer was put to rest at Boot Hill Cemetary! I couldn't imagine another actor ever playing Doc Holliday in Tombstone. Maybe one of the top 10 acting performances of all time? Sad that the Academy didn't even nominate him for an Oscar. SMH Rest in Paradise Sir!!

Gene Hackman won best supporting for Unforgiven. But they should have nominated him but at the time there were only five nominations.

The nominees for Best Supporting Actor in 1993 were: Gene Hackman, Jaye Davidson (the crying game), Jack Nicholson (a few good men), Al Pacino (glengarry glen ross), and David Paymer (mr. saturday night). Gene Hackman won for his role in Unforgiven.
