I have ran Toyo RT’s for the last 3 sets, 2 sets on the duramax and 1 set on the F250. Been thinking about switching to the nitto ridge grappler. They are suppose to be quieter on the road. They are heavier in comparison to the RT so i am wondering what that would do to the MPG. Also thought about jumping from 37’s to 38’s but also wonder what that mpg loss would be.

I know I ran toyo MT's for years and like them. I decided to try the ridge Grapplers and I'm sold. Got more mileage out of them then the toyo. And yes they are quieter. Was on the 2nd set when I got rid of the D-max

I have 38's on my f350 (ridge grappler) my next set I'll be going back to toyos. Weight rating is way more with the toyos as well. To me the noise was comparible.

What mpg are you seeing with the 38’s? What do you like better about the toyo’s?

Look at the metric sizes, even though I run the RTs, the weight rating is higher on the metric sizes vs the inch, may be similar with other brands.

Like @CLdrinker said, i dont necessarily care about MPG's. My truck is tuned and deleted and on the highway i see around 20mpg. Around town i want to say its like 14mpg.
I have had 2 sets of the nitto's. Nothing really in particular that I dislike about them. I have a pretty heavy fifth wheel and the load rating on the toyos I believe is like 1,000 pounds more per tire on the Toyo vs. Nitto so just for my own piece of mind.
Just personal preference is all. I never had toyo R/T I always ran the M/T but I didn't think the noise was bad. For me though my truck doesn't see that many miles. Usually 5,000 miles a year so that could be why my noise comparison is skewed. If it was a daily driver for me it could be different 🤷‍♂️

Interesting. I'll look at that. I never compared them in the past. I appreciate the tip.

Thats good mpg with the delete. I deleted a 2016 chevy and only gained about .5 mpg over the non deleted banks tuner. Best I would see would be 16mpg on 35’s.

Check out the Toyo RT Trails. Switched from Ridge Grapplers. Super happy with them compared. Toyo/Nitto same company. Some tires share the same carcass/materials, but the rubber compounds are definitely different.

What do you like better about the rt trails over the grapplers?

At same psi truck rides noticeably better. Way smoother. Same daily driving bumps aren't as noticeable. Cornering the truck feels more planted. Way less gravel/stone retention off road, wet grip is noticeably better. Only place I haven't been able to compare yet is snow.

I think they are way better looking also.

If you tow any real weight you want to pay attention to the DOT Load Index rating of the tire. This will tell you exactly how much weight each tire can handle

I put the 34” C rated RT's on my JK a year ago and love them. I’m buying an F350 and the 37” E rated RT‘s will go right on it after break in.

From what we were told they are phasing out RT’s and it will only be RT Trails so be careful buying a new set, if you have a blow out may not be able to get a matching new one down the line.

So in the same size 295/70/17 the RT Trails are 3lbs lighter but have a higher weight rating than the Ridge Grapplers. Also the rolling resistance is supposed to be less from some of the tests I have seen. I haven't hand calculated it, but the DIC went from 17 to 17.2.

Thats pretty close. I have the old school RT’s, im thinking the ridge grapplers would be better, not as good as the rt trails.

The RT's have their place for sure. For spending more time on pavement Ridge Grappler for sure. After owning both I noticed the Ridge Grapplers browning and showing some unusual cracking between the tread blocks. Never had a Toyo tire do that.

My RT’s dont have any browning but do have a little cracking between the treads. I have always had good luck with the toyos but this time they wore really funny, got pretty loud. And did not seem to be so good in the sand.

2 years old. Rotated closer to every 10k and probably should have done every 5k. This is the first f250 i have had. I had 2 sets on my last chevy 2500 and rotated them close to every 10k with no issues.

I just installed a set of the Toyo AT3 on my F350 (37”) load range E. I came from a set of Toyo RT. I enjoy them much more. Quiet, 65k mileage warranty, and smooth.

What size tire are you looking for? I have some 35s and 37s.

Same Company. Most Nitto's made here and most Toyo's made in Japan.

So I have Toyo Open Country A/T's and my son has Nitto's Recon Grappler A/T's. You can hardly tell their appearance apart. They are that similar.

Sons truck is an 04 diesel Ram which is noisier than my 18 Ram so I couldn't say what tire rolls louder.

Nitto's are LESS money by about $100 bucks a tire so there's that.

I had a set of Toyo AT2s, there was so much tread flex it felt like the tires were underinflated and pretty scary to drive - luckily Toyos come with a 500 mile "test drive" as I had them swapped out for some Coopers - hopefully Toyo has fixed that problem on the AT3s.
