Anyone out there that rides one too? Might be the next toy in the garage. I always wanted an R1. Might have to pick one up.

Problem I see, is when it would be nice to ride in Havasu, you have snow birds. That could be sketchy, but you already ride, so that's a plus. @185EZ knows the area well, and could probably give you the lowdown on where the good rides are.

Only crotch rockets I had were years ago, and nothing like what the liter bikes are now. In my more "Zen" frame of mind, I think, if I were to get another bike, it would be an "adventure" bike. Something able to get here and there, to the backside of civilization and home. Something not super fast, but still fast enough to do something stupid.

Nope, seen enough rider vs veh carnage. Hint, the rider doesn't fare too well.

I get the feeling and the want as I have done some light riding and I can see how it can be relaxing but I won't do anymore, I don't trust the other people on the road.

I wanted one badly around 2006. Took my buddies GSXR 750 for a spin. In just a few minutes riding I got cut off so manny times and also discovered what fast really meant. I knew I would die on that bike.

No thanks.

I survived them. Don’t know how though. I used to ride down the hill to chaparral, burning knee pucks, just to buy a new set, and burn those up on the way back up the hill. I threw it away in 13 curves between springs and snow valley, and totaled my bike. My wife said never again. Thats when we got a jeep.

Have had a few gsxrs and my favorite bike is the 750. Wouldn’t mind another one but with the drivers these days I’d be a lil worried around town.

Last one I had was a 2001 sold it in 09 as I hardly rode it at the end. Had 15k miles on it. I put 7k on it the first couple years and 150 the last year i owned it.

Had my fair share of crotch rockets. My favorite was my BMW K1300S. Fastest I’ve ever been on land. That bike didn’t last long because I wanted to stay alive.

Bounced around between Harley’s and BMWs and still doing it. Current ride is a 1250RT. There’s some pics in another thread of some parts of CO that I’ve added to my ‘must see on the bike’ list.

I dunno, I don’t think I’ll ever not own a motorcycle.

After owning a few liters then having a ZX14, I quickly realized the attraction as I’m 6’3” and 225. The Sofa’s punch such a huge hole in the air, that they’re actually fun to cruise @ 100, sitting up. They don’t need but a couple additional inches and a Shinko to be able to use all the power in 1st too.

Liters sound and feel like they’re coming apart at 160. Never bothered me, I’ve driven plenty of rattle traps at speed. But those big bikes are smooth as glass at 160-199. And that’s what makes em dangerous. They’re happy at 160+. Get there in a hurry too. What really freaked me out was the closing speeds on those things. Pretty scary shit. Better know where you’re at and your surroundings while displaying such dick measuring and self satisfying behaviors….

I’d really like to ride a H2R.

Get one if your situation awareness and reaction time is good. Not sure how old you are but if you’re 50+ I don’t recommend it. Haha

First day without rain. Went for a walk to grab some coffee. Maybe I am over thinking this and the liter bike is more than I need. Maybe this is all that I need.

🤣🤣🤣

I think I have one kicking around...honestly, I think I've wracked myself up more on 50's and mini-bikes more than I did on choppers and dirtbikes 🤣

Thought it would be fun to build some lowrider bikes with the motor kits (DUI conversion out here...every drunk that loses their license commutes with them)
Laid out low, with fishtail pipes. A mini cruiser version of the lowered Harleys with chrome and metal flake.

I’ve got some really cool pics with some really cool people. But those have to be shared over a beer cuz I sure ain’t posting them 😂

So of All the bike accidents you've seen...

What percentage were rice rockets vs. Harley's?

Seems like every time I've seen a bad bike wreck, it's always a rice rocket.

Sold both bikes (2001 FXDL and 1985 RD500) in 2008 after multiple close calls with idiots and witnessing a buddy almost loose his life on his new Ducati 950. Rode both dirt/highway bike since I was a kid so a lot of years under my belt. Our first grandchild was born in late 2007 and after the experience with my buddy I gave it all up. I could only imagine what it's like riding local streets in today's world...no thanks.

Ehhh the most horrific are always crotch rockets (higher speeds)

The most drunken ones are usually Harley’s.

Edit; crotch rockets usually hit objects. Harley’s usually hit each other (first).

I've still three sets of helmets, jackets, gloves, pants, and boots in the closet.

Really need to let them go.

I've been on probably 2 dozen MC accidents that someone died or were close to it, 4 were Harleys, 2 were drunk and 2 were caused by a rice rocket. The 2 that were drunk were fatal, 1 of the other 2 the girl on the rice rocket lost an arm and the other had his bike wash out from under him because of gravel on the road from a previous rice rocket crash.
