The one at home is barely able to produce a glass of water anymore.
Should I give it a charge of air or just get a new one?
I'm thinking to either up the size of the tank or perhaps get a couple tanks to increase overall capacity. What you all think?

Check the air charge and set up multiple tanks in parallel.

I just had to replace mine because it was leaking. Last year it was barely producing any water. Did some research and charged the tank with 10 psi of air and it fixed it.

I found out that since I turn off the water in Havasu, when I return, the reverse osmosis just trickles out water. If I pump about 5 psi of air or something like that back into the tank, it pressurizes again and water flow comes out normal. It's a PIA but the alternative is to keep the water on all the time, NOT! I also find by the last day I am leaving, it gets pressurized again. :grumble:

I turn off the water too but don't lose pressure. We also have a plastic shutoff valve in the plastic supply hose that I shut off too. I think that keeps it full.

It shouldn't need to be repressurized so often:headscratch: That's just the air between the tank and internal bladder.
At my Havasu house the tank is so far from the faucet it can't dispense very fast, so I installed an on-demand pump in the line. Works bitchen.:thumbsup

Figures. I've had a new replacement Costco RO System sitting in a box in my Havasu closet going on 3 years now that I need to install to replace my 12 year old system. I even pilfered 3 new filters out of the new box for my home system this past weekend.

I just had to recharge mine... works great again. there are some easy to find youtube videos on the procedure... just need a decent lo pressure gauge and a bicycle pump.

Keep an eye on the tanks, had one rust out and leak into the kitchen one winter. We were away for a couple of months and came back to a flooded house.

I just did mine. If it loses charge once it will again. They are super cheap and come precharged. Few websites that sell them. Just google home RO, they are all the same.

I'm seeing $30-50 for the 4 gal.

Kinda what I figure too, was just curious what the inmates thought.

I think mine has lost charge over multiple filter changes somehow...
I recharged it a few months ago for the first time in 6 years... and still going strong so far. time will tell.

3 refers and 5 RO faucets .

RO unit and 3 tanks (20lbs pressure) in garage, and 1 more tank at other end of the house . (play room)

Some ice makers require at least 20 lbs of working pressure, so I charge up the air bladders to 20 lbs, about every 2 years .

I had the same issue with my RO system here in Havasu and finally fixed it after trying everything including adding a 10GA tank. I feed an undercounter Clear icemaker and those use a lot of water, plus 2 refrigerator icemakers and a sink RO faucet and I also have rather low house water pressure of around only 48 PSI.

I finally added an inline RO pressure pump and limit switch that keeps the pressure into the RO unit much higher with a limit switch that turns it off when the tank is full and now when I turn on the faucet it pisses out like a racehorse and we always have water to the icemakers. I think the whole set-up was ~$100 and worked so well that I added one at the Palms house as well:thumbsup:thumbsup

Yeah, I put an on-demand pump on mine in Havasu so when faucet opens it pumps a glass full in no time.:thumbsup
My Calif house the tank is 3 feet from both faucet and fridge.

Then you may need to put a pump on the water line going to the ROs......I think it's about having enough pressure to get the water through the membrane portion of the filter.

The RO tank pressure isn't good enough in Havasu to push it all the way to kitchen and then back to fridge. Plenty of water volume, just not enough pressure. Hense the on-demand pump.
.
The Calif one is the one that has stopped giving much of anything, barely a glass if you got time to wait...lol So either the bladder has failed and/or it lost it's air charge(which is a fail too) :D

Paul - Can you give me more info on the pump you added? I am thinking I might add one to our place out there to help get better pressure out of it and the fridge and sink. Thanks.
