I made it to the front gate, $ 5 parking, $25 PER PERSON entry, 1/2 mile walk from the parking area to the course, NO personal ice chests, NO personal food goods, NO personal beverages allowed .......................maybe it'll be on the speed channel next month. I like boat drags, but NOT enough to spend $40 + for 4 or 5 hours. Just my HO & .02 cents worth.

Pretty expensive. Think the races next weekend at Puddingstone are much cheaper.

The guy taking the money for parking said " $25 for today, $30 for the 2 day pass" ? somebody need's to communicate a little better with the hired help I guess. There were 2 other cars in front of me that also made a u turn outta there. I've done business with the city of lake elsinore in the past, not really surprising that they managed to fuk this up :grumble: I'd THINK they'd want to have people spending money not only at the race event but also the restaurant's & bars etc.

Lake Elsinore, California-The National Jet Boat Association, Americas oldest ¼ mile drag boat racing organization, is pleased to announce the return of high-performance drag boat racing to Riverside county. During the weekend of March 21-22 2009, the NJBA presents Thunder in the Channel, a high octane racing event on beautiful Lake Elsinore.

The action will be explosive, with side-by-side racing at speeds in excess of 200 mph! Drivers will pit their V-8-powered race boats and their nerves against each other in a contest of speed and durability to see who is the fastest on the water.

The race will be held in the ski channel at the south end of the lake, directly across from Storm Stadium, starting with qualifying on Saturday morning. Throughout the day, racers will have two qualifying sessions to tune their machines and run as fast as possible on the NJBA’s brand new, state-of-the-art ¼ mile race race course.

The NJBA offers up-close-and-personal interaction between fans and race teams with a paid pit pass and spectators will also be able to get close enough to the race action to feel the thunder of 4,000 horsepower nitro-burning supercharged engines! The view from the banked shoreline as these boats rocket past you will leave your mouth open and thirsting for more!

On Sunday, the action heats up further with elimination rounds in over 20 classes including brackets as teams race to the finish line for a share of thousands of dollars in prizes! Along with the racing, the festivities will include a beer garden for the adults, a manufacturers midway selling high-performance toys, and delicious food.

This is drag racing at it’s loudest and most extreme! Grab your lawn chairs, the kids, and your friends, and spend a weekend at the races. At Thunder in the Channel, it’s the closest you’ll get to the real thing-without getting struck by lightning. For more information, please visit www.njbaracing.net

Answers to your questions:

1. Yes there will be on-site pit camping on a limited basis. no tents allowed.
The Fee for camping in the pits is $80.00 and is limited to the first 50 racers only that pre-register for the event. Space will go fast so i suggest visiting www.njbaracing.net soon to download the registration form and sending in your entry. We won't have room for cousins, uncles, friends and others to camp in the pits. This is for racers only.

2. The entry fees for spectators are:
Saturday: $15.00
Sunday: $20.00
Both Days: $30.00

3. The NJBA Awards Banquet, which is usually held in late january/early february is being moved to the March race. It will be held Saturday evening, after qualifying at 7pm at the Storm Stadium Diamond Club, which overlooks the baseball field. This is inside of the stadium, which is next to the pit area. This in a better venue than the one we originally planned. There will be great food in a catered buffet, refreshments and adult beverages, music etc. The banquet is open to racers, crew and friends so feel free to come out and party. The cost is 40 bucks per person and is limited to the first 200 people that sign up. for more info, visit the njbaracing.net website.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VP RACING NAMED OFFICIAL FUEL OF NJBA

LONG BEACH, CA (March 04, 2009) The National Jet Boat Association (NJBA) today announced it has chosen VP Racing Fuels as its Official Fuel for the 2009 season. The agreement calls for VP’s distributor, Amber Racing Services (ARS), to be the exclusive on site supplier of racing fuel at all NJBA events of which there are five scheduled, all in California. VP also will post contingency awards for all classes.
"ARS is pleased with NJBA’s selection of VP as the Official Racing Fuel,” said Brian Busby, General Manager of ARS. “I’ve been a long time member of NJBA and to have VP come on board only makes it better for the racers. NJBA is the oldest Drag Boat racing organization in the U.S. (operating since 1969) and in my opinion, the finest sanctioning body of them all. NJBA runs everything from River Racers to Top Fuel Hydros. Its races are put on by the racers for the racers, so this should be a positive venture. ARS is committed to assisting VP and NJBA in making this a great season!"
“With VP's storied history of drag racing success, this is a nice fit for both NJBA and VP Racing Fuels,” said Bruce Hendel, VP’s Western Regional Manager. “In addition to providing race site fuel service, Amber Racing Services will be administering our contingency program as well."
“We are very pleased to have VP Racing as our Official Fuel,” said Ken Simonds, President of NJBA. “VP has a strong heritage in racing, we are fortunate to have them help with the growth of our series. Our racers can appreciate the advantage of using VP’s fuels.”
For more information regarding obtaining fuel, NJBA competitors can contact Amber Racing Services @ 562-432-3946.
In addition to the NJBA, VP is the Official Fuel of NHRA Championship Drag Racing, among many other series.
Based in Los Angeles, CA, Amber Racing Services is a High Performance Fuels & Lubricants Distributor serving the Western U.S. ARS services the NHRA, MORE, SNORE, DRIVE, SCORE, and BITD Series. More information is available online at: www.AmberRacingServices.com.

I HAVE to go down there to pick up some parts. Not real happy about it either.

If you are correct about the $25 entry, who do you ask about the change of price?

Fixed it for ya :D
Seriously though, I realize it co$t money to run these boats and I applaud the racers for putting the time & money and effort into getting to the races, BUT, for christ's sakes, $25 bucks to get in, $5 to park WTF ? the stupid ass baseball stadium parking lot sits empty 350 day's a year, then they won't allow spectators to bring in a ice chest, NO, they want you to pay $5 for a beer, $7 for a hot dog, $3 for a can of soda pop and then they charge the racers $80 to dry camp, AND THEN, wonder why nobody will show up for the next one :grumble: If these people are gonna try to make this an on going thing they need to do a reality check, IMHO, if I'd have taken just 2 of the 4 grandkids, it would cost me $100 for the day ( 1/2 day )

I just posting the one post. All the flyer's and advertisement's all say $15. I can see the $5 to park as somebodies gotta clean up the mess. Forcing peeps to buy anything and everything from vendors really sucks. How much is the entry tomorrow. Can't go by what they advertised. I think I'll stay home.

Hope they bring them back to MING. I was shocked when I learned of the admission fee. Speed does not cover the NJBA races that I know of. At Ming you can bring in your own cooler. Just not beer and the parking is just across the street. It is a long drive for those in the OC though so I understand why they tried Elsinore. Plus they could not get a March date for Ming cuz they are doing some face lifts to the lake.

Just got off the phone with Digger, he's at the races, said it was $15 for today and $20 for tomorrow ?? The kid I talked to this morning ( the one collecting parking money ) was obviously already thinking about what he was gonna do later today

The races were good and will be a lot better Sunday being I got there pretty late today. I missed all the morning runs. Good to see stokerwhore, Mrs bordsmnj and to meet Boatnam2 . Lots of people there. I was told (2000+) and if it doesn't rain they expect that to double Sunday. The race announcer said today's crowd was about 1900 more than they usually draw at a race.:D

I'm still on the fence about whether to go Sunday or not. I had to work today, but managed to watch a whopping 3 runs during my 1/2 hour lunch break. Are drag boat races usually this long and drawn out?

I guess I just didn't have to worry about the entry fee, I had passes. Quit complaining and next time help out a racer and get free passes like I do. :D

Over 2,400 paid at the gate. Other than the crash an it costing the racers two hours of down time it was a very good day. Hopefully the weather will holdout tomorrow.

????

Today's was not good, but the Club was very happy about yesterdays turn out. Over 2,200 paid at the gate and they didn't advertise other than fliers. They wanted to get this one under their belt to " test the waters".
For the November race they will use both radio and tv media to get the word out.

Something both Riverdaves and Performance Boats might want to set a booth up to get the word out about their web-sites. Lot's of people there to introduce to the Boards.

You must not go to many races and sporting events. Ever try to stroll through the gate at an NHRA event with a cooler? And it will cost ya over double the 25 bucks for a ticket and well over 5 bucks to park. And no way will you park within a 1/2 mile from the track.
Just so you know, your grand kids would have gotten in free. How much would it cost to spend the day with them at Disney Land?
I don't think they were out of line at all. Angle Stadium and The Pond would have boo hoo'ed your cooler too.

You didn't want to spend 40 bucks for a day of fun. Boo Hoo is all I can say. I spent more then that and had a GREAT time.

Oh, I posted before the race for people to stop by my booth. Those that did found the cooler and we had good fun.

Did you read his post. He was going to be over charged. He was told $25 per person. It was actually $15. And usually at the NJBA races you can bring in a cooler.

yes I did. It sounded to me like he never made it to the gate where he would have paid the correct price. There was nothing usual about this NJBA race. The city had all kinds of restrictions on them from what I understand.

You must have been HaLlucinating, I am still in Parker. :D

Boatnam must a had too many Coors Lights :champagne: I was happy to run into Jason, Linda and he but never did see you there Wheeler. I'm glad I didn't miss seeing you there.:thumbsup Yes Meanstreak was the fastest and I believe Bad Habit TAH went 207 mph. Sad that the event didn't run smoother so both boats could have run again later Sat PM or at all Sun due to the rain and wind but even at Ming nearly every first race of the season gets very cold and rainy. I think we may have been the last boat to run Sun AM before it was canceled but we had already beat :swear ourselves by redlighting. I wanna thank the NdaWind's for all the great hospitallity of staying at there place on Lake Elsinore and the fabulous BBQ Sat night. My kids and I had a blast hanging out w/ them and having them help us on the 8.0 sec. hydro #357. Scott even was out there helping NJBA Thurs / Fri set up the course and lending the use of his (oops, his wife's boat) for them to use. Unfortunately racing does have its scary moments and as I've said before it sucks :cry:when someone crashes, and you know them, their family and crew. I wanna wish Frank Nagore a speedy recovery and strength to his family and crew. Many of us wished him good luck and a safe pass as he headed to the water Sat morn. He crashed at the top end of the track at nearly top speed in a blow over in his capsuled tunnel jet boat.

I've been going to races of ALL kinds for over 50 years , cars, boats, motorcycles, airplanes, horses, snowmobiles, you name it, if it's a race , I've been to it  As for NOT wanting to spend 40 bucks ? hell, I can piss $40 before 8:00 am without even thinking about it :D I just chose NOT to be jacked for the money as I was TOLD it was $25 to get in an $5 to park, and I don't know what a hot dog or a soda went for, but I'm sure it would have taken the better part of a 10 spot :swear AND as for dizyland, that place is for grandkids that DON"T have grandparents that have boats, or off road toy's, horses or know how to surf, snowboard/ski
I've raced ALL the above mentioned ( except for an airplane ) at one time in my life, and I'm NOT really a "spectator" sort,........ If I can't "do it, I'm really not interested enough to "pay" to watch it, the boat drags I'm good for MAYBE once or twice a year, if they're running 1 race every 30 to 40 minutes, probably NOT gonna stay for the day ( short attention span ). I'm sorry you got your feelings all butt hurt & shit, BUT, it was what it was, $25 + $5 to park, just not that interested , plus I only had to drive 12 miles to get there :D

I'm sorry you got your feelings all butt hurt & shit, BUT, it was what it was, $25 + $5 to park, just not that interested , plus I only had to drive 12 miles to get there :D

It was not $25 to get in.

WTF ? When I pulled up to the PARKING entrance at the stadium, a HUGE SIGN reading "PARKING FOR BOAT DRAGS" with a kid in an apron COLLECTING money for parking , I asked, "how much to get in ? " he replied, " TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS entry, FIVE DOLLARS to park " Dumbass me :bash: What a fukin idiot I am  I THOUGHT that meant it was TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS to get in and FIVE DOLLARS to park Maybe the kid taking the money spotted my RDP hoodie and MISTOOK me for a baller
