Still wondering why irs agents need guns?

And why they need 10 million dollars worth of firearms in the last two and a half years?

Ironically enough, my wife and I were just sitting next to an acquaintance when this thread was posted. She is an IRS agent here in L.A. I didn't say a word to her..... Some things are best left unsaid.

Revenue officers do door knocks for delinquent taxpayers that owe a lot of money. At least they used to.

Maybe it's just me but it seems like there's somewhere else the IRS could be vilified than in a thread announcing a person has died from an accidental shooting. His daughters deserve better.

And spare the crap about negligent discharge and other minutiae. The man's dead. Have a modicum of respect for the guy.

And park rangers.. what do these people need guns for?
All these agencies are miles off of the core reason they were created.

Every cop and firefighter are now parading down the street in his loss, still some ones loved one lost. Calling it a line of duty death wtf?

Seriously? Yore a park ranger patrolling a “scenic lookout” at 11pm and come across a chick being raped. You probably want a gun.
Yore a park ranger and come across a couple guys poaching. You probably want a gun.
Yore a park ranger and need to clear everyone out of the parking lot due to sunset closing and come across a group of less than friendly people getting high AF in a remote location. You probably want a gun.

On top of that, almost all “park rangers” are sworn police officers.

Where are these cops and police officers parading down the street in anyone’s loss?

Glenn Beck has been reporting and breaking down the incredible Budget for Weapons and Ammo the "IRS" is getting. The things that get "Hidden" and attached quietly to other larger Bills, would likely surprise and disgust most Taxpayers.

Now where’s that thread about the inmates that carry guns on their boat. 😆

RIP to the agent, but why does the IRS need to train with firearms? Are IRS agents considered law enforcement officers?

Crazy, they are trying to arm as huge amount as possible of Government employees at certain levels, there is some kind of agenda that is for sure, what it is we won't know til we know. My Co-Godfather was a former IRS armed agent, he said some had to be armed due to IRS seizures but he is even dumfounded by the amount of employees the Government wants to arm.

I’m at a complete loss why IRS agents need to be armed or how the government justifies it. Zero need.

I strongly believe in the 2nd amendment and anyone who has any law enforcement powers and especially powers of arrest should carry 24/7.

Hell, I would argue parking enforcement should carry before I would argue against an IRS ENFORCEMENT Agent carrying.

Only criminal investigation does. They go after drug traffickers, money laundering, terrorists. Yeah, they should probably be armed. Not everyone at the IRS is an agent, in fact very, very few are. Most are clerks, examiners (audit) or officers (collection). There never was 80,000 agents to be hired. That was bad journalism. 80,000 employees over the next 5-7 years is what they got. Ever try to call? It’s a 2 hour process. Does anyone even read the federal budget or just go off sensationalism social media posts?

IRS agents aren’t typical employees. They are part of the criminal investigation unit. The ones that got Capone. They go after terrorists, human traffickers, drug traffickers and the like. They rightfully should be armed. They are the only IRS employees that are armed. Also, the 87,000 is employees not agents. Clerks and phone staff comprising the vast majority. To be hired over a 5-7 year period.

Probably the same reason we all carry guns, including teachers now. It is what it is, anymore.

It's been said to me more than once, that more people are shot with their own gun more often, then by someone else. That includes hand over your gun to another person, for them to inspect. 😉

Well that's 2 people that don't know firearm safety. When I go to a gun store and ask to see a gun they pull it out, clear it and hand it to me. I then proceed to clear the weapon myself, I'm not Alec Baldwin so I would own the bullet.

Cant say that I feel bad at all! I dont see this going over very well for the IRS in the long run. But, what this administration is doing is " modern day naziism". A true act right from Hitlers playbook. FUCK THE DEMOCRAPHOLES!!!

It's simple why these agency's need weapons, u.s. military since Kent state bullshit is on rice paper in u.s.! Non military government hallpass moniters think they are new law enforcement, bring it on clowns. Already listed as anti Government on fed paperwork and I'm proud after 5 year war with border patrol after Bush's patriot act scam. ( needs to be repealed) so are most of you. Don't fear these weasels!

You understand the second amendment is to protect the citizens from the government.. not the government from the citizens?

Pretty sure Elliot ness and the untouchables worked “with” the irs to take down Capone.. but the irs agents involved in that were more on the paperwork level. Not the on scene arresting level? I could be wrong on that, but that’s how I understood it

And a P.S.A. supreme court ruled (your RIGHTS have to be claimed at the time of law enforcement interaction NOT AFTER THE INTERACTION)

To cover attrition. No mass hires since 2009. People do move on and retire.
IRS isn’t growing headcount over the next few years?
