There is a D-Type posted up above, and IMHO, they are the most beautiful cars ever made...

But if I were to do a Kit (and I might), it would be a Lotus 7/ CATERHAM variant. The WCM s2k version is exciting, but bike engined and stock looking would be more likely. The MEV Atomic is really an exciting car too!

I like the Jags too. They are built on real Jaguars. I consider them more recreations over replicas. Id like a reproduction of the XJ13, a few are being made.

I'm not really talking a vehicle like your 32. I don't consider that a replica or kit. That's an actual car that has just been rebuilt on top. That would be simliar to getting a destroyed frame of a 250 Ferrari and rebuilding the shell. It's still a real 250 Ferrari in my opinon.

But not to the Ferrari market.

I worked for a race team owner that has an incredible collection, including a 250 GTO with a verified race provenance. He paid $35M for it ten years ago, had it restored, certified by Ferrari Classiche, and it won the Enzo Ferrari Award at the Cavellino Classic in 2012.

Based on a couple of recent sales, its estimated value is around $55M.

I built a Factory Five Cobra kit about 20 years ago. The project started because I was gifted a 74 351W block and I wanted to build a stroker engine and put it into something. The project scope creeped into a 600hp 2200lb road racer on 12" Hoosier slicks. I never looked at it like it was a replica of a Shelby Cobra that I wanted to pass off as real, I just liked the specs of it and it could be something fast and fun. It sure hauled ass. I had it plated in CA for awhile until they took the registration away, ended up selling it to a guy in Hawaii. Still had about 10k street miles and took it to open track events. Here from the VARA Big Bore Bash at Willow, started from the back of the grid and nearly lapped the field.

The 356 Speedster would be fun to tool around town in. I have been on the lookout for a McBurnie Daytona for while, but they usually look shitty.
Wife didn't want a sporty car so we're going to pick up a 67 Series IIA Landcruiser instead.

been building manxs for years. Also built 356 bathtubs back in the day. Just got rid of the catfish molds. There isn't allot of money in building the parts, but they are fun to drive. I guess there is a sense of accomplishment by putting one together, but as I get older, I would rather buy something already finished.

A project I planned never got off the ground, but it can happen if RDP member has the time. Buy a used Nascar body, all running if you like. In Mohave County, Havasu country, NO emission at all, you will need like RZR a VIN, so clone in a Dodge or Chevy cowl to make it easy, or get an assigned VIN. DOT windshield, tailights, tires, and you are good to go. I checked into this a few years ago, I do not believe it has changed. No insulated the pan well, it gets hot, and you have a street legal Nascar race car. Looked amazing. It worked.
It was a good quality kit offering excellent accessories.

Not much call for that kit and the guy making it moved onto something else.

The Ford V Ferrari thread had me thinking again - Anyone have a replica car? I know @PlanB has a really nice Cobra. Anyone else have anything?

I plan on eventually buying a 61 - 63 Ferrari 250 Ca. Spyder Replica or a 66-73 Lambo Muira Replica (since I can't afford the 5-8+ mil price tag on a real one). Most likely after I retire. I'll expect to pay 100k for a nice one, even though some of the truly high end replicas are north of that.

Have two friends, one with a original 68 Lotus 7, Cortina engine and the other is a Caterham with 2000 Toyota twin cam. Needless to say, only the Hayabusa engined Lotus 7 would beat almost anything on the track.
The Hayabusa engined Radicals on our track are the speed demons.

I forget their name but on the island there is a company that builds Caterham's.

The guy who was building the Caterhams with Hayabusa engines on Vancouver Island passed away and the business possibly sold to the people in Calgary now. There was a Caterham builder in Calgary where a friend of mine bought two kits from them, before they closed shop, possibly 15 or so years ago. I know Henry the Porsche builder in Vancouver, He took the business over from his dad Frank who started the Intemeccanica after his passing. There is always used ones for sale with prices all over the place. The Beck Spyder is my favourite of the Porsche kit cars.

It wasn't a Meyers kit. was one of my bodys. It also wasn't a kit, it was a one off build for rugged radios. We got allot of interest, but you have to do a ton of work to a rzr to make it work.

If I wanted a cheap cool looking badass car I’d build another Datsun 240Z with an aluminum small block in it...bout 450-500hp, a TKO gearbox, and a quaife diff with some 4:88ish gears...there isn’t much on the road or the track that would beat it.

Then put a Ferrari body kit on it if you want a Ferrari. Lol

The '71 Vette I grew up admiring was definitely not a slow piece of shit. Mostly because it was a big block car that had been bored . 060 over. It walked away from every other brand out there when we used to run it down in Sebring.
