Doing it by myself screws were almost mandatory. Long term the stainless screws were a bad idea though.

You could have always used a screw to hang the first ones to hold it and nail the rest. ;)

Yea...I don't use the app......I use as a browser on my phone too. Just below your signature there is an edit, delete, and report button. Not sure about the app. That's why I never liked apps....they seem to leave out things to use in order to make them "faster" and "easier" to use. Same shit for even like when I pay bills n shit. I fucking absolutely hate using apps. Always something I can't do the same from just a regular website.

Yep. those ideas, and plenty of others, of how to do it better came into mind after the job was done. It is an amateur job at best.

Here is the west facing fascia board beat by the afternoon sun everyday. Everything else just needed a coat of paint and some TLC.

Fascia removed. No further pictures. ;) Not a job I am proud of.

I appreciate everyones help. Next time Ill drive to Corona and get the Windsor board, or have it delivered. :) Ill use nails, and just a few regular screws, have help arranged, or pay someone to do it.

This job was an impromptu addon to the other projects we had going due to the boom lift already being here.

As usual, it wasn't as simple as it looked. The overzealous nailing from above made the job extra shitty.

I ended up painting all of the trim around the house and that made my wife happy. So everything turned out good, regardless. ;)

Did you sawzall the nails off (through the plywood)? Any issues with screwing/nailing into the end grain of the rafters? Looks like the rafters are 2x4's. Any issues with the drip edge being in the way?

No, I clipped them off with a nibbler set of dikes, and that job was the worst. Perhaps it needs that many nails, I don't know, but there sure seemed to be alot of them.

No issues with reattaching to the rafters, which were 2x4s, that was the easiest part. Drip edge was just hanging out the whole time waiting for its friend the fascia to come back. :)

Eventually all that trim and t-111 is getting removed and replaced with stucco. I never liked either of those features.

No chance I am doing anything on that job. ;)

Sorry I wasn't much help. The job didn't go well for the first time and there wasn't much to brag about. The suggestions were good ones though.

The boom lift made the job easy. I couldn't imagine doing it on ladders of scaffolding.

Just the fact that you got up there and did it will probably be enough for me to say "well someone on RDP just did it I should probably give it a shot". I need to replace the drip edge too which is why I am going back and forth between "I can do this" and "I can write a check for this."

I look at it like a lot of other things, other peeps "this", albeit better as a profession, so anyone of average intelligence can figure it out with some instruction.

If I had more time and planning I would have went to Corona for the Windsor board, and I would have lined up some help and only needed a couple screws, or none at all, and nailed the rest. Placing and holding up a 16foot 2x6 by myself was not very easy.

I didn't really get the comments in the thread about the drip edge, none of the edges of my shingles lifted easy, so I didn't mess with that at all. I am not one for fucking around on two story roofs anymore, so when the house needs roofing, someone else will likely be doing that.
