Had great refried beans at one of our local restaurants on Friday. I would love to have a scratch recipe if anyone would like to share their favorite.
Thanks much.

If you don't have the time to do them from scratch (dry beans) I highly recommend using Sun Vista canned they're whole pintos. Just put them in a pot and let'em get to bubbling uncovered to get rid of some of the liquid 20 min or so and them mash them.

What do you add? Onions, cheese etc?

Here is what I do, it’s super quick, very easy, and takes it to the next level. I make them as just a side with tacos or enchiladas, I use them to make burrito supremes, or just as a dip for any occasion.

1- 28 ounce can of refried beans
1- 4 ounce can of Hatch diced green chiles, undrained
1- tablespoon of ground cumin
1/2- tablespoon of Chile powder
1- tablespoon of juice from a can of marinated/pickled jalapeños (I also chop some of these up and add them).

If you are going to use as a dip add a cup of grated cheddar and a cup of grated pepper jack, makes it really creamy.

I rinse that Sun vista water away. I don't care for the taste. But SV's are the way to go if you don't have the time to start fresh.

Soak pinto beans in water. Then boil in beer in a pan with onion and ham hock and then mash.
Boracho beans. So good!
