Recommendations for snap on batteries

I bought my snap impact gun used and the batteries took a turd after two years need to fix them any recommendations here is the pic model

My snap on guy tried to sell me on impacts a few years back, i straight up laughed at him. I told him they were a nice product, but there is no way im switching from my Milwaukees where all the batteries are interchangeable and way easy to get.

The snap on battery stuff is very nice, but also very overpriced.

Some battery shops can rebuild them. I've had mixed luck up here, but we aren't exactly a bustling metropolis either.

Totally, Milwaukee is the way to go. Batts are SUPER easy to get cheap, and the units rock.

Honestly i'd try to fix the batteries. Is there just an issue w/ the performance, or did they totally stop working and wont take a charge at all?

If its just bad performance you can prob just split the casing and replace the cells w/ new ones and be in good shape. You might have to get creative on building the cells, but its doable

If its just dead dead, it might be the BMS, which you can prob find a generic replacement board

Open the pack up and order batteries online made for rebuilding these type of tools.
Chances are it'll be size Sub-C or Sub-C4/5. Easy enough to measure length to determine which.
Easiest ones to use/solder together are the ones with tabs already attached like these($25).

Those snap on batteries are ancient, I don't think they make those anymore, need lithium now.

If you are going to be using it here and there around the house, aftermarket batteries would be fine. I’d get 2 because IME the quality of them is a bit spotty.

If you are making your living with it I’d get the genuine snap on batteries. Though a set of Milwaukee brushless might not be much more snap on batteries.

sell the tool and buy something else. Ill never buy a snap on electric tool again and arguably anything snap on again over the constant problems with my snapon cordless tools and snap on wouldnt do shit.

i rather buy 5 disposable tools than theyre garbage and the first disposable is likely to last longer too if were talking cordless

Yea, they where able to rebuild an old Graco paint sprayer (cordless) for me when nobody had replacement batteries. Even Graco.

Same here….I was thinking about that the other da….pretty impressed with DeWalt batteries, and I use them daily

I had a Snappy impact like the OP, not very powerful but perfect for I bought it for. …purchased new off the truck in about 2002…in 2014 or so the batteries started not holding a charge overnight, would still work all day if you pulled one off the charger:

On another note….when I started road racing back in 2005 I bought a Goodyear battery 1/2” impact on sale at Pep Boys. My Dad still uses it, with its original batteries, twice a year to run the trailer jacks when we set up for the summer and tear down at the end of the season.

I just ordered a battery from snapon. First two last me eight years. Don't drain the batteries to bare min. They'll last longer
