Need some help from the inmates - while navigating the tornado of last minute offroad trip prep for next week's excursion, I realized that the rear shock on my daughters CRF70 is basically blown out with zero dampining. It collapses to the bump stop with a simple push on the seat, so i'm thinking it is done and I dont think they are rebuildable.

Every replacement shock out there seems to be geared towards 250lb adults mobbing pit bikes over jumps, i've ridden a few 50's and 70's setup with various aftermarket shocks and they all basically feel like an over-sprung pogo stick, and would have zero sag or travel with my 9 year old on it.

She was complaining about the suspension on our last desert trip, end of last season and I thought it was just the front forks that needed to be resealed and rebuilt, which I took care of easily. But the rear shock is a problem, no idea what I can get and were I can source it from before we leave Sunday.

Shock specs seem to be 260-280 mm or also listed as 10.25" eyelet - eyelet

Any suggestions?

Not a lot of help here but I work for the big H and just checked OEM availability. There’s one in the Torrance warehouse. If I ordered it before about 9am today I could probably have it tomorrow…

Msrp is $315 and my cost is $173.

I was there yesterday. They’re getting ready for the Expo this weekend in Havasu.

Damn! I got impatient and ordered an adjustable shock that had good reviews and found a lighter spring I can put on it.

If that doesn't work out, i'll come knocking!

You could reach out to TO Powersports or TRE in Simi to inquire about a rebuild?

My son is big in the motocross thing and I have learned a lot from the resources out there. For kids bikes that are smaller than 85's, I'd go to Cloverhill. He's in the Corona area just moved up by Lake Matthews. Steven 951-532-5539. He can fix any shock...any. He does big bikes too, but when you get a bit hardcore, we are using JBI in Murrieta. JB only does 85 and larger, but boy is he good. It's on the downlow, but he even does guys bikes who are sponsored by suspension companies because some of the big boys suck and are just a name.

Unfortunately there isn’t any inventory for a lot of the older bikes so can’t get that one.

Also, not sure if the shock for a CRF is rebuildable. Most of the cheaper shocks were non rebuildable and basically crimped or welded shut once they were filled with oil and nitrogen. Basically a disposable shock.

This. Call Jason or Matt at The Racers Edge (TRE) in Simi. They can for sure either rebuild that or guide you to the best option. Great honest people over there.

I personally am not a fan of TO Powersports service dept. Tons of bad stories out of that place.

@Kbach offer would probably be your best bet cost wise and its OEM.

I also ordered some 10wt fork oil. I rebuilt the forks last night using the recommended Honda SS8 5wt fluid, and the dampening is way to soft. Gonnas swap the oil out when I install the rear shock, hopefully tomorrow
