Looking to re gear my 2018 Ram 6.4 from 4:10

To 4:88 or 5:13

Will likely swap the stock 33’s to 34.5’s

Opinions suggestions.

This is something we do all the time, but Irwindale is a bit far from you.

There are shops out your way. Someone should post up shortly.

Anyone heard of inland Jeep? They are sounding pretty reasonable.

While I’m still considering the re gear (aka saving money and contemplating ratio to go with)
I decided to toss on a 2” spacer kit and some 285/75/18 Falken AT. As well as Air Lift helper bags

Do you remember what he charged you? I’m getting prices from $1500 to almost $4000. Most in the 2200-2600 range.
I’m thinking 4:88 but maybe 5:13

That hub kit is a serious investment sheesh.

Worth every penny. My truck is a stick shift, and has a super high reverse speed. I needed to be able to put the truck in four low two wheel drive, to back a fifth wheel into places, and not slip the clutch. Plus you don’t have the front diff turning and output bearing on the transfer case turning all the time, so less wear and tear on those parts, and better fuel economy.

Thanks. Wife says steps are next after I get the gears. I was at a stop light the other day next to a older Chevy 2500 that had a 6” lift and I was allot taller with my little 2” level.

Well I have all my pennies saved. Now just to decide on what ratio and what shop.

This guy wouldn’t let me ask one question. He just wanted to give me a price and get me off the phone. He was almost double the average quotes.

was interested in giving him the job anyway but he would interrupt every time I tried to ask a question.

Im sorry to hear that. I didn't have that experience at all and has done quite a few jobs for buddies too. These companies wonder why we leave the High Desert to have work done instead of keeping money locally. I would just go with the best reputable shop for the price. Thats crazy hes that high too. I feel bad for ever recommending him now.

Maybe I caught him on a bad day or he’s in the middle of something and probably should not answered the phone.

I got a price from toys for trucks $1800 for Revolution gears and 2504 Yukon gears A tech transmission said nobody makes the gears for my truck weird.
One guy quoted me almost $6000 another guy quoted me 4000 today I find it odd prices are so far all over the place

ya prices are crazy. I‘m not a huge fan of Toys for Trucks. Glad you found a good shop and a decent price and warranty. Let us know how it goes.

I will let you know I hope the difference is worth the money.
4.30 would put me back to stock from 4.10 with my 34” tires.
So 4.56 would barely be better than stock. So hopefully 4.88 should be good. Almost went 5.13, but the pinion gear starts loosing durability at that size I heard.

That should be a major difference when towing which will be a nice change. Id say the 4.56 or 4.88 will do it good. The 5.13 might be a bit much. I like to go at least two gear sets higher when re gearing to make it worth it. Always remember you have the extra weight of bigger tires and more rolling mass and resistance. The 4.88’s would be my choice too from stock. May try it with the 34” tires and if need more top end go to a true 35”.
