Guys a successful weekend off-roading with the Jeeps. Kind of.... I ended up getting a flat 1 spare down. Another Jeep ended up getting two flats (not sure he could do this again). Thankfully we were pretty close to the 95. Got it flat bed to my place. Side wall would not plug. It was a mess.

* Every tire center in LHC is closed Sunday
* Walmart Fort Mohave and Bullhead - called not stock on tires
* Trying to get him back on the road today and avoid burning Monday

Does anyone have a spare I can borrow (a 35) ? I will have it returned by next weekend here.

Bummer. @mjc is a jeep guy and resourceful. Maybe he can respond. 🤷‍♂️ If not at least a bump in hopes someone else might see this. At least if you can’t get it done until tomorrow you get to hang in havasu. 👍

For next time. If it's just a bead issue..
Pull tire
Run over tire with another rig. Tire only not the wheel
That will break the bead
Clean bead
Pour gas on bead with a trail running off it
Light gas trail
Big explosion
Bead will be set
Reinstall on rig
Inflate
Drive away

Not as hard as it sounds actually

I have seen videos of this. Would need to practice or see someone actually do it.

Next time you drive by Tractor Supply grab one of the "Tread" patch kits. I patched a sidewall and was surprised how well it worked in a pinch.

I know - I heard that stuff works really well. It was so weird - I have not had Jeep tire issues (plenty of UTV flats). We were pretty lucky where all of this stuff went down. It could have been a much bigger mess if we were back on the trail.

You have to be more specific on the gas details. Are we talking a little splash or are we talking 5 gallons of gas, Gus???? People might hurt themselves.

I've done it a ton of times. Once you see it in person you be like "hell that was easy". People get scared of the "explosion" part but it not bad just dont use to much gas just enough around the bead and let a little trickle into the tire. People always ask "what if you get to much in the tire and it continues to burn" then you just shake your head and explain how fire needs oxygen and it no longer has any in the tire if the bead seats.

I was typing another reply🤷🏻‍♂️
If they use 5gal maybe they deserve it🤣

But I always forget "common sense isn't so common" 🤣🤣

We always carried a dawn dish soap squirt bottle to apply the gas

Speaking of "common sence"..

It amazes me with all these jeep guys now and modern off road'rs that have winches none(very few) have "cable blankets" in there rig. Its crazy. Before that button gets pushed the blankets go on. Some I have talked to dont even know what a "cable blanket" is or what it is used for. We always had a few "horse saddle pads" that we used. Small and effective. They dont take up much room.

We always used starting fluid, scary part is lighting it.
I have used starting fluid, brake clean, hairspray. But as you said the lighting part sucks. My go to was gas for the trail and being away a couple feet🤣

Either...probably a bit more sketchy, but easy to apply.
Do they still make "AquaNet" hair spray? I used to steal my sister's and use it bor both bead seating and firing motors 🤣

I can actually remember using aquanet as well a few time on our three wheeler tires.

I think they banned that shit in the 90s though, shit was lethal🤣🤣

I had a guy tell me that! It was his excuse for not having one even though he could not tell me what a blanket would be used for. Synthetic or not, shit will still cut your head off or at minimum shatter a windshield.🤣🤣

Haven't seen that yet...is it more expensive with their name?

Not sure on price. My cabinet guy called me last week and said he got a new hardware board and wanted me to come check it out. So I went out on Friday to take a look and the board had a big Wurth logo on it🤷🏻‍♂️ I didn't even bring it up to him cause he wouldn't know what I was talking about. But it made me giggle🤣

Same logo and everything? I'd never heard of the company before maybe 20 years back. A guy I did some work for was into Rally stuff. He tossed me some cans of brake clean and said "try this stuff. They just gave me a whole crap ton of it" along with a really nice cabinet with their logo

If possible remove the shrader valve whenever resetting the tire bead explosive style… it’s not mandatory in a pinch but prefered if you can remove it. Saves blowing out the valve stem and acts like a pressure relief valve if you don’t get the explosion within the “brewski explodeski resetey gasoliney ” specification!
