One of the few women still brave enough to contribute to RDP and a long-time member of RDP published her first book today on Amazon. Angie is a bonified historian with a focus on the Western states and the contribution Western expansion made in the development of America as a superpower. In her first book, she tells the story of the women who helped shape the early conservation movement.

Excellent job, @angiebaby.
I have no idea what has to happen to make a bestseller, but please consider buying her book; maybe she will sign one for you. :)

Thanks, everyone. I'm not going to lie, it's pretty cool to see your work in hard copy format. It's not a huge book, but I think it's a pretty interesting subject. I love forests, and when I found out about the work women have done to protect them that has largely gone unnoticed, I felt the need to share that story.

Jeff and I plan to write a book about our adventures with the motorhome this year. Completely different genre, but I'm looking forward to it.

Kindle version downloaded. Looks pretty interesting from the AMZ summary.

Any chance @angiebaby could share some details on how the Amazon revenue sharing model works? I kinda felt guilty going with the Kindle version at $9 but in the interest of forest conservation I went paperless.

The way I have it set up, I get 60%, but they take printing costs out of my share. There are "printing" costs with the Kindle version also, but it's all graduated, of course with the kindle being the cheapest and the hard cover being the most expensive on my end. If I want them to act as a distributor for me, I only get 40%, and, again, the printing costs come out of it. There were no details about the distribution model, so I passed for now. I have it set up to get between $5-$6 for each version. I don't plan on retiring on the proceeds, but I feel it's a good exercise to see how it all works without any investment other than the time that I had already spent researching and writing my master's thesis. . . . and I get to add "published author" to my resume :D

Wow......congrats Angie! I will pick one up! Well done and look forward to taking a look at it.

I have threatened to write a family book about all of my siblings and Mom and Dad. Totally from my viewpoint and it would be 13 chapters...One for each child (including one on myself) and one each for Mom and Dad. I just have to sit down, be inspired and start putting it down. I do have my title picked out but just not have had that motivation to start it. One of my brothers called me and said I better be nice to him in the book.....I told him you shouldn't have almost cut my finger off and then punched me-knocked me out to stop me from screaming in pain as a little guy....lol If I ever do get around to it there will be truth spoken......FROM MY VIEWPOINT. Everybody has a story to tell.....my family and its dynamics provided massive amounts of material :)

Congrats! I have started and stopped writing so many times the pull is starting to get strong to sit down at the keyboard again. I know how hard it is to finish. Congrats.

Congrats! Ill buy that next one for sure! I'm thinking Islander will be "some RV park in Arizona" for the front end damage.

Really great accomplishment! You should be very proud!

Congratulations Angie! Impressive work!

There are many people, here and "out there", that have vast amounts of knowledge about a wide variety of things. Very few can put their knowledge into words in a manor in which it can be understood by others not as familiar with the subject. Even fewer still have the patience to put "pen to paper", and transcribe those words and thoughts. Physical books, and what words they hold, will often outlive us, but will continue to carry on a part of the author's knowledge.

Knowledge is something this world is in desperate need of.

Congrats @angiebaby i know how much work goes into a venture like that. How long ago did you develop the concept for this project?

Congratulations, I ordered a paperback for my cousin as this right up her alley/interests as an outdoor girl.

On a side note I was rather disappointed with that wholesome photo of you, I wanted to see that image of you taking a shot of Jack Daniels. :)

Are you really able to autograph them or do they come out of a Amazon distribution?
They are printed from Amazon. You would have to order it and then bring it to Havasu for me to sign it.
Nice work Angie. It's nice to see your passion become print.
The money received hopefully helps you continue with your passion.

LOL, the motorhome story is not my passion, but it will also become print.
The reality is we have a lot of good memories from this adventure over the past 3 years. Some good . . . some terrifying. But it will be a good story.

Just ten more to go and you'll match Claudine Gay's lifetime scholarship output!

I just told Fonda about the adventures of Jeff & Angie over the twenty years since we met, and she was very happy to hear you guys are doing well and the kids are growing up.

She also gives big props to @angiebaby for the book launch, hopes it's successful, and leads to sequels.

Best to both of you!
