So over the last few weeks I have been talking to @rivermobster and he mentioned to me that gd.com was going to quietly be placed in the market and they were more looking for the right buyer than any buyer. He put me together with Rob (owner of glamisdunes) and we hit it off pretty well and he elected that he would sell it to me as it would be in good hands.

Many of you know @Devious_Chris (Chris Leach), I have been trying to get him to get together with me in a project for awhile now.. Every time we do something together it always surpasses my expectations, most recent example would be the auction at SuperCat Fest West raising 300k!

So last weekend I drove down to San Diego visited my mom, but as well went down to meet Rob in person and conclude the sale of GD! The deal is done the ink is dry..

RDP’s IT team has already started working behind the scenes and is prepping to move the site to xenforo and into our servers.

What that means is it will work infinitely better with cell phones, it will have all the same features as rdp (including a CMS system (front page etc) and a whole lot more I’ll get into as we progress in the future.

To make a long story short I’ll handle the forum, software & community. Chris will use his extensive network to handle the vendors, advertisers etc.. We both will handle meetups and events.. but the main goal?

MAKE GLAMISDUNES.COM GREAT AGAIN!

I will keep you guys updated on the progress.. when we make the switch to xenforo the site will be offline for 12-18 hrs..

I know rdp shares a large number of members with the previous gd.com before the crash. It’s my hope to develop the sense of community we have here over there as well!

Picture taken right after the deal was done!
Thank you Rob and Jen for trusting us with future of something you worked at for the last 20 years!

I am very excited to be a part of this venture. I was in the offroad industry for almost 10 years going from a parts and accessories dealer to a Polaris and Arctic Cat dealership (Devious PowerSports) until we sold in 2021….. I made many great contacts and friends through that business and look forward to reconnecting and participating again.

RD and DC have some big things to come in the future!!!

I remember when that teacher started it. Or principal or whatever he was. Used to have a three digit member number. Then it changed.

I spent many hours on there, when it crashed it just wasn’t the same. Looking forward to see how it comes back around. Wish there was any way to get old threads pulled back but know that’s long lost. Congrats Dave and Chris.

I'm excited to read this! GD.com was the first forum I was ever on, and I spent a ton of time there. Fact is that all my friends for the last 15 years either came from that site or ended up there with me. A lot of great history was lost when it crashed...
The Compound Days with Sandlord are the highlight of my 30's and I still talk to Monkey, Yarder, Sand Diva and PinkyYFZ daily :)

What’s GD.com?

I have a theory about what crashed GD.com.

There was a shit ton of accurate, verifiable information on there about a certain individual and his “business practices”.
Happened about the time he was inking a deal to sell his then current business, about the time that they buyers lawyers would have been vetting the whole thing.

Those were great times alright. 100’s of some of the best people that I’m glad to have as friends. Just like riverdaves place.

I visited the website last week for the first time since the crash to verify a rumor that a buddy was selling his sand car (without telling anyone in the group it was for sale). Place seemed absolutely dead. Used to have a ton of great tech for a noobie getting into sand cars for prep and maintenance but all gone with the crash sadly. Just my opinion, but overall RDP has a much more mature culture and membership (thats probably hard to believe), and is a better environment for online entertainment, current events and networking.

Awesome.
Does everyone use the same Avatar name there as you do here? I do.
Can we have a link on RDP that would take us to the new site
With our old login and screen name.

Ironically enough once it’s on xenforo admin side can actually synchronize the usernames and passwords..

Meaning I could actually set it up so anyone on rdp has the same username and password on both sites..

There’s all kinds of things I can do once we move it.

The site itself has some issues currently that are gonna get resolved pretty quick. Once that happens, I think you’ll find the participation will go up quickly.

I always liked Sampler/Rob and his alter ego….

@RiverDave is the man for the job to get GD.com back to its glory.
I have a screen shot from GD.com when there was over one thousand members online.
Edited to say there was 1738 members online at one time.

I was gonna post something about forums when Matt in Parker wrote that RDP would be gone in 10 years or whatever he said.
The forums are great because you mostly get real people posting real things. The members can quickly call out the bullshit, community policing….

been on GD.com since 05. Met many cool people and done many transactions over there. Yes, after the crash, it really never recovered so I did what allot of people did and migrated over to RDP. I think the combo will be a good thing. Now I can waste more time looking at a screen!!!!

I love that idea. Obviously only if the RDP'r desires so. That would be big.

Was a member(might still be?🤷‍♂️) from the earlier 2000's. Wasn't super active on it but did read quite a bit. I might have logged in once or twice since "the crash". It all waned substantially thereafter.☹️
I often got PMs that were meant for Zippy😂😎......I suppose at glance it might look like Ziggy.
Hate even to admit it but it's probably been 15yrs since I've been to Glamis.....but had been a very regular visitor since latter 70s.

Congrats RD. Building a larger business takes time, and a steady hand, ethics, and more. Lookin good, keep it up.
