I think Scott Steele was building some nice ones for sale.

I have the plans. I sent to RD and a bunch of other people on here too. Still haven’t found anyone to build me one.

Scott Steele does custom RC boats. He hand lays them up and they even have little stringers...been to his shop and they are badass! My son is a little young for one, but I will be buying one in the next few years. He might be interested in doing one of those. You can find him on FB, do a search for Steele Racing. He is currently restoring my uncles boat, a Caribbean V-Drive.

That’s a great deal, I have one and I beat the crap out of it. With a prop change they will run 75 and the are incredibly well balanced when running through some chop. ProBoat makes a solid boat.

How did it run?
Did you do a gps speed test?
What batteries did you get?
3s 5000mah x2 and it idled around great, but as soon as i got on the throttle it tossed the whole prop shaft and prop. Then round two i just ran around near the shore with fear of it spitting it again, which it didn’t so next time I’ll really let her run. But it rockets out like a bat out of hell,

All the bigger boats usually sell them separately , good batts at almost 100 a piece, then you have to have a good digital charger, By a cheap jet boat for the same price !

That’s no joke, think it was right at 400$ after taxes for two battery’s and the charger i got. I almost shit but asked “what’s the best that’s zero hassle” as i have no lipo experience and didn’t wanna deal with the headaches. Going to cash in two weeks vacation and get two more battery’s next 🤦🏼🤣🤣

I've been messing around with this fucker the past month. She sat for a bit and now can't get parts for the old Homelite Weed Eater motor that is in her. The plastic Carb Adapter snapped in 2. My last attempt will be machining a new adapter for her. If that doesn't work, I'll find a new Nitro motor for it.

@rivergames Nice, Reach out to Karl Loveless on FB. He might have something. He's WAY into RC boats. Is it a 23/24 or 26cc engine?

I bought a CB hull from Jeff Doidge. Going to paint it like the 94, but instead of High Maintenance it'll be Little Maintenance, and the girl will be a little person layed out instead of the normal one.

And in the process of getting this painted for a Xmas present for one of my crew guys. One of Steele's RC Flats

I'll check it out! I'm not sure the CC's of what is currently in there. Once I get he running, I'll see if her speed it OK or time to upgrade.

I was looking online and I can get a 52CC twin piston motor, but I don't know If the cracker has enough room

I'm excited to see the lil maintenance all painted up! !

Throw that home light in the trash and put a Zenoah in it instead.

Save a lot of time to start and get him a set of adjustable trim tabs as a stocking stuffer. The Spartan is a beast but gets chiming. All same set up as mine, but mines the cat. I put a different bearing carrier drive strut that gave a bit more adjustment as well the tabs now she’s a beast. Before that it wanna semi true to roll over just from the tq.
I have a RC Schiada someone gave me that I’m gonna rig pretty soon. I just bought my son a “Spartan” which is a larger 50 mph v bottom.

I know you're a resourceful guy, but I was rather amazed when I found a complete new (Chinese) carb for my old Echo Weed eater, with primer bulb, new fuel lines, a nice rebuild kit, for under $ 30 on Amazon. Was even tunable unlike the CA version it replaced and it fired right up and runs awesome.

Buy a redline engine and call it a day. They have stock to fully modified.

A few years ago on I bought a Miss Geico 24 which at the time I thought was perfect size, not too big, and fit under the seat in my boat at the time so it made storage easy. They have since discontinued it and I know why....it was a big POS from the very beginning.

It came with a brushed 550 motor, ESC, and a 6 cell NiMh battery, I knew it wasn't going to be blazing fast but figured if they sold it like that as a package it must be ok, I was wrong, that thing was so slow it wouldn't even plane. I tried a 7 cell NiMh but it wouldn't fit in the battery tray. I bought some small 7.2v lipos (ran parallel) put them in the sponsons to try and put some weight up front, ran a little better for a bit, then burned up the motor, bought a better brushed motor, burned that up within 5 minutes....finally bought a brushed motor and esc, then broke a drive shaft...it now sits on a shelf in my garage because "someday" I might decide to get back into it....smh

I did order a carb from Amazon and it showed up yesterday. Got her for $14.99.

I still need to make the carb adapter that mounts the carb to the Homelite motor. I'll try to knock that out one day this week.

Buy a redline engine and call it a day. They have stock to fully modified.
If the new carb doesn't work out well, I will look into a redline setup.

Or convert it to lipo/brushless and live maintenance free and happy.

I know the Lipo's are best on the small lighter boats, but not sure if they have them dialed in on the big boats. I have a 36 inch Geico for my son and it leaps out of the water and is probably 70mph on 6S. It hauls. I have a couple glass hulls that I would love to build as electric.

Hauling the Traxxas M41 and spare parts etc is a motha, playing a few weeks ago on Amazon, found a bad ass 45” bag, however it did t really do any good as the bag was just a limp bag. Thought to get 1/2” pvc and build a cage inside the bag and now it’s perfect.
20$ bag 35$ in pvc fittings perfect.

I’ll have to pull the pvc frame out and get better pics.

40 years ago I along with a buddy were into building and flying gliders. I found that extremely challenging and it was fun going to various mountains or ocean cliffs and flying. Got harder to find places nearby to fly as more homes got built, then the collection of gliders and parts burned, that ended that.
Back in the 70s, when I was flying a hang glider from the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque, Torrey Pines, etc., me and a friend had gliders too. They had a 6' wingspan, and were launched with 50' of rubber surgical tubing.

We would get them in the air, then lay on the hood and windshield of my truck, catching thermals and gaining altitude. They would get so high it was impossible to tell what was going on. Then we would hardover on one wing, bury the pitch axis, and spiral them down out of the sky to 100' or so, and do it all again. I spent hours doing this, it was a blast. Um, we might have been stoned too.

😁

I had the pro boat rockstar energy edition and it had a horrible porpoise. I ended up blue printing the bottom and it was bad ass and stable after that .

I have a Zenoah powered Pro Boat 55 that @TBI painted for me. It looks cool. Three years ago I hit a dock with it and tore off the rudder and other hardware. I bought the parts to fix it, but it's sitting in the garage until the magic day comes when I repair it.

I sent it to Bilgie with the original paint and decals intact, he returned it looking like a vato bomb in South LA. I love it.

My friend had a nice one he built way back in the day. The most fun we had was people yelling at us, cause we would wake up Early to catch the glass!

They are LOUD!!! 😁

Find a place that doesn’t have people or big boats in the water. I have seen an RC Boat go through a full size boat I have also seen someone loose a finger from a prop on one too. There is a designated area between Body Beach and Rotary Park for RC Boats. I run mine in Needles on the river.

Where is a good place to run RC boats in Havasu?
I’ve tried to figure out a deal of 3-4 locations to meet a few times a year and run them, specifically in the fall through early spring. Came up with Avi beach, Pirates Moat, body beach and the channel, think it’d be a blast with a few 3,4-10 boats. Two or more buoy balls and sand bags to keep in place would make ideal.
