I'm looking to build a Razor 1000 4 seater. I want to change out the cage, add doors, lights, bumpers, seats etc etc etc. I've looked at SDR, TMW and Desert Works. Does anybody have input on theses vendors or suggestions on others. I looked at info on Glamis Dunes site, but it's kind of limited to the advertising vendors.

Thanks!!!

I have always liked SDR's stuff. Never dealt with them personally but my friends have and had good things to say.

Your looking at 3 of the best companies available.

Hard to go wrong there products and builds are top notch.

I would shop it and get a realistic time table from each.....sdr and tmw are pricy and build lots of 40k +++ xp10004

Glamis Dunes SxS sections backed into hell and are useless. If fact the whole forum is now useless.

Everyone goes to Rzr Forums and roll through the build and vendor sections.
http://www.rzrforums.net/

Polaris bought out Pro Armor and their line is nice stuff. Lots of depth to the Pro Armor accessories.http://www.proarmor.com/category_s/1875.htm

Thanks for the help. I just joined (rejoined) rzrforums.net. I was a member during my 800 build and forgot my log in info. Good site. Much better then GD. Desert Works did my 800. He did lots of 1 offs. I'm just looking for all options to build a very trick ride. Thanks again.

My Commander was Tim's (SDR) personal vehicle...what can I say - it's bad azz!

Cool guy and easy to work with, but pretty busy. Maybe less so now thta the dune season is winnding down...

He insures SXS's.. Don't think he insures Jimbos company if that is what you were asking.

I've heard people mention this company as well. I have no experience with them. http://www.fu2chassis.com/

Jimbo built my rhino. Everyone who has seenu rhino run has been blown away with how well it works for a rhino. The thing I like most about is that everything is custom I wanted different doors and if you other custom patches and it was no issue having it done my way.

Mind you this thing was built five years ago so the styles have changed a bit since then but for having all this work five years old this was the picture of it from last weekend.

I really like the TMW and SDR product. I like that SDR is local (so cal), but I might be better off dropping it off in AZ and just picking it up when it's done. It's kinda tempting to keep stopping by and check progress if it's local.

SDR built my 900, had zero issues and build went smooth. They are always extremely busy and most builds take 10 weeks. TMW stuff looks awesome also, don't think you will go wrong with either of these two. Take a look at Magnum Offroad out of San Diego, they are building some SICK cars. They just finished (2) pre-runners for the offroad team that Pink Taco photogs for, BADASS!!!!!!!

I don't know what you're time frame is or your budget. But being that Polaris has yet to respond to the turbo maverick, I would think they'll have something towards the beginning of the next glamis season.
Fu2 did friends commander and his maverick. Both turned our nice.
SDR stuff always looks good too.
Hcr has some nice long travel kits, if you have the money.

Me personally since all I do is go to glamis with my commander, and sxs prices are getting stupid. I'll be looking at a used rail, a bfd revo, or mosebilt has a 4 seat sxs size rail I've seen a few pictures of on glamis dunes.

the link I posted may have too much to look at, so I will comment on this...
once I selected TMW, I schedule a time frame to shoot for, made my deposit and secured my work and place on the calendar. I followed up with the guys often and as the time frame got closer even more. I was thinking that I would be dropping rzr off and coming back in the standard "two weeks" (that we all know to well here) to pick it up. The week before my time to drop off the rzr all of my parts were finished being built and done with powdercoat, they told me they could get the rzr finished with two full days of work. I booked a hotel room and made a trip out of it, arrived the night before, dropped off next morning, spend two days in Scottsdale and was back on the road with all work completed.
My experience with TMW exceeded every one of my expectations. I would highly recommend calling them. 1-480-969-9261 ask to speak with Adam or Doug.

Lots of great input and info. Thanks for the help. I'm leaning towards TMW or Desertworks. I saw a Desertworks build and a couple TMW builds at Berths yesterday. There's good in both and bad in one :rolleyes Keep the good advice and info coming. I still have a couple weeks to make a decision.

The SDR cage on my RZR saved my life. It is sitting in my yard still, hoping to hang it in on the wall when I build my 3000 sq ft garage. It held up great and no cracks or failed welds. I know they are always busy and longer wait than most. They have been around since the Rhino first came out. The GD.com member I bought it off who had it built by SDR went to TMW to avoid the wait and was extremely happy. All 3 mentioned do great work.

02Essex is not on here much but he has had FU2Chassis do a lot of work for him and his buddies. He rolled his (some might recall the video) and it held up great.

The guy (Gary at Northland Motorsports in Flagstaff...if you have not bought yours yet I would look Gary up...I have not heard of anyone beating his price) I bought mine from delivered to TMW on a Friday (we would have picked it up and delivered it to me too but not until Friday and I was a bit anxious) and I picked it up on the Wed before Thanksgiving 2013. I had everything picked out before hand and a time slot and it was done in 4 days. I'm in So Cal as well. Doug sent pics and answered every call I put into him.

I stopped by DesertWorks yesterday on the way home from ordering a trailer. I was very impressed with the finish product. Scott has some great ideas on a build. I built my first Razor4 with him 4 years ago. No complaints. I prefer his cage because it flares out at the cab giving the passengers a little extra arm and leg room. He had a couple cars on-site with finished trim panels on the doors and roof. Not my preference. I think it gives it too much of a finished look. It makes me feel like it belongs on the street vs the dirt. The doors and latches are far superior to SDR. I will not look any further at SDR. I viewed 2 SDR cars on the floor at Berths and both had a big problem with the drivers door. I called to discuss the concern with SDR, and the salesman kinda shrugged it off. It definitely didn't give me a warm and fuzzy. I'd really like to see a finished TMW build before I make my final decision. If anyone has a car in the North Orange County area I can look at, I'd appreciate the opportunity. I hate to board a plane just to get a view. All other suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

I have a TMW build, drop me a pm with your number. As mentioned before, happy to help answer any questions or show you the rzr.

Question for the RZR 1000 guys.

Other than cage, doors, seats, belts and lights, what else are you guys having done to the RZRs with the aftermarket work?

Other than stereo I was thinking about suspension, shocks?

I know there is a lot of room for improvement there cuz the stock shocks are dog shit.

I'm soon finding out that purchasing the RZR is just the starter kit. Worrying about a few hundy on the purchase price is now laughable. I probably have spent $7000 in aftermarket and I'm still not done. I have issues, lol
