As a boss, never ask an employee to do something he hasn't seen you do.

Always say please and thank you.

Having a solid work ethic is something YOU bring to the job. It can't be taught.

Always look your peers straight in the eye, never up and certainly never down.

And lastly, if ya can't lick it, you shouldn't stick it.

I didn't always do these things or didn't do them soon enough......Now, I regret it.

1) Have a "plan". (With all things)

2) Enjoy and MAKE TIME for the older people in your life. Parents, Grandparents, ETC.
(They will be gone sooner than you think)

3) Work hard and smart in the beginning of your life.
And you'll enjoy the rest of it.........sooner!

The 21 Day Smoothie Diet

What is The 21 Day Smoothie Diet?
The 21-Day Smoothie Diet is a weight loss program created by health coach Drew Sgoutas. It involves replacing two meals per day with nutrient-dense smoothies for 21 days while having one regular healthy meal and up to two snacks daily.

The plan provides smoothie recipes, shopping lists, and a structured 21-day schedule. It starts with an optional 3-day “detox” of only smoothies, then transitions to the main 21-day plan. The diet aims to help people lose weight quickly by reducing calorie intake and increasing fruit and vegetable consumption.

However, experts caution that it may be difficult to sustain long-term and could lead to nutritional deficiencies if not carefully planned. The program comes as an e-book with recipes and guidance.

Who is the Author of The 21 Day Smoothie Diet?
The 21-Day Smoothie Diet was created by Drew Sgoutas, a certified health coach and nutrition expert.

With over 10 years of experience working one-on-one with clients struggling to lose weight, Sgoutas developed this simple step-by-step system to help people lose weight, keep it off, and improve their overall health.

As a certified health coach and proud member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, Sgoutas aimed to take the confusion out of weight loss and healthy living by creating an easy-to-follow plan centered around nutrient-dense smoothies.

How Does The 21 Day Smoothie Diet Work?
The 21-Day Smoothie Diet works by replacing two meals per day with nutrient-dense smoothies for 21 days, while allowing one regular healthy meal and up to two snacks daily.

The program provides 36 smoothie recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and a structured schedule to follow. The diet creates a calorie deficit by reducing overall calorie intake while still providing essential nutrients through carefully crafted smoothies.

These smoothies are made with ingredients like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and plant-based milk, focusing on whole, minimally processed foods. The plan starts with an optional 3-day “detox” where all three daily meals are replaced with smoothies.

By emphasizing high-fiber ingredients, the diet aims to reduce sugar cravings and promote feelings of fullness. The program allows for one “cheat day” per week where smoothies are not consumed, though meals should still consist of whole foods.

The Smoothie Diet is designed to be followed for 3 weeks but can be repeated as needed until weight loss goals are achieved. After the 21 days, there’s a transition guide to help maintain weight loss.

The diet claims to promote weight loss, enhance immune function, improve skin and gut health, and increase energy levels.

Michael R.⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I was skeptical at first, but The 21 Day Smoothie Diet really works. I lost 7 pounds and noticed a significant improvement in my digestion and overall well-being. The only downside is that it requires a good blender and some planning ahead for grocery shopping, but the results are worth it. I will definitely continue incorporating smoothies into my diet.”

Emily W.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“The diet was effective in helping me lose weight, but I found it hard to stick to it for the full 21 days. The smoothies are tasty, but I missed having more variety in my meals. I lost 5 pounds, which was great, but I think I’ll use the recipes more as meal replacements rather than a strict diet plan.”

John K.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Excellent program! I followed The 21 Day Smoothie Diet and lost 12 pounds. The meal plans are well thought out, and the smoothies are packed with nutrients. I felt full and satisfied throughout the day. This diet not only helped me shed pounds but also improved my skin and energy levels. I highly recommend it!”

My advice it to go to college at 18, or enlist in the military for 4 year. The life skills you gain under these situations will put you where you need to be for life. 😉
Or combine that and do college under the GI Bill. Military pays for your college, you give them 4 years after you graduate. Go in as an officer.

I wish I had done that. Kick myself for not doing it.

" That being said, if you are in the later stages of life, what tidbits would you randomly pass along as general knowledge the younger guys on RDP?"

Thanks for the laugh, that's a f*ckin good one 🤣 I'm sure you've realized by now, they already know everything, just ask them 🥴;)
Lol, yes the guys (my sons included!) that are under 30 are not interested in taking advise, doesn't matter to me, I will give it to them anyway. But not in the blunt, direct and threatening way it was given to me when I less than 35YO. I use my real life experiences to articulate what is wrong with the situation at hand, why it matters then give them an example of why with a real life experience. Life has a way of knocking the cockiness out of us, and even if they don't want to hear what I have to say, they will remember it when they are realizing they fucked up and do some soul searching as to why and what should have been done.

I find the younger females in the trades are really reluctant to speak up but don't have the arrogance the guys in their 20's have and if they can stay with it become really good leaders later in life. Yes, they cant physically do the same or equivalent amount of physically demanding work but pay much better attention to detail and follow the rules and directions better than the young guys. Honestly, truly physically demanding work in the trades has been dramatically scaled back in my 33 years in the trades. Rod Busters haven't changed much, all the other trades got way softer. If your running a concrete core crew, you need knuckle dragger, rough around the edges carpenters. Nothing like packing around 40 - 80lbs of gear day in and out, 6 days a week for 6-8 months at a time and almost every step you take is either climbing or descending the height of the next pour.

If your dealing with the public facing construction jobs or leadership positions that deal with multiple subcontractors, a journeyman woman in their 30's - 40's with the right experience is superior to their male counterparts. Not an exact science, just my .02$

Not really trade related but worth remembering..

-Never say the first thing that comes to mind.

-Wait at least two seconds before responding to someone.

-In an argument or disagreement add another 4 seconds to the above.

-A bad woman will destroy you.

Trade related:

-Someone will get rich off the sweat off your back; Be that someone.
Just tagging on to your last point, if you don't own the company, your job is to make that company money. It's not a fucking hobby, you don't own the company and making money is what you were hired for and what keeps all companies in business. If the business you work for isn't ethical, leave immediately, don't wait to be fired, your word and reputation mean more than any job. Later in life you will realize the world is much smaller than you ever realized and your reputation and who you are as a person will get you farther than any career you had with an unethical company.

Good advice.

One of my daughter’s best friends went to college on a ROTC scholarship, then served in the Navy for 20 years. After a few years in supply chain management, the Navy sent her back to school for a Masters, again on a scholarship, while also being paid her officer’s salary. She retired from the Navy this year and is now working in supply chain management as a consultant, and making VERY good money.

During my close to 50 years in electrical construction I noticed a gradual evolution, yet rather dramatic change of attitude in younger trade newbies. Early on, most reminded me of myself. We were aware the trade as a whole encompassed an extremely wide range of knowledge disciplines and most realized, that despite how much we thought we knew, we were humbled knowing there was still so much more we didn't.
By the time I retired, it seemed that was no longer the case as I had more young workers whose resume would consist of "Can tug on wire and screw together a couple of wire nuts, but doesn't know why " telling me how they knew it all and deserved a raise.
I waved good bye and retired, knowing I trained a whole bunch of good ones and so I left them to deal with that crap. 🤣 ;)

To the really younger guys in middle school / high school …. Or maybe some of you Dads to pass on to your sons ….. “ALWAYS be cool to every girl” … especially the nerds, geeks, fatties, & uglies ….many of them will be the hotties later in life. All of the popular / cute cheerleader types are ‘peaking’ now …. and they’ll be the dogs later.

Trust me on this one, I speak from experience.

In high school, we had this kinda nerdy girl. Tracy. She was a legit band geek. Red hair, very curly, difficult to manage I would guess. She was awkward in her skin, walked like a duck with her feet pointed out a bit. I had a lot of classes with her. She was brilliant and nice, but nerdy. I don't recall her having boyfriends.

FFWD to our 10-year reunion. She walked in and you could hear the jaws hitting the floor. She was the definition of a knockout! Tall, thin, well-dressed, not over the top hot, but classy and sexy. Everyone was talking about it. We were blown away. She got together with a friend of ours that night, also a little nerdy, but played water polo, super nice guy. He drove a Porsche 914 in school. I recall one time the three of us rode in it for some reason (Me, Jeff, and Russ), I want to say it had something to do with a flat tire, anyway. He was a good friend of mine. He got the girl everyone was talking about that night. I am 100% sure it's because he was nice to her in school. No one was really mean to her, but no one really paid attention to her, either, except the other band geeks. Thinking about it now, I actually think she was in choral, but they all hung around together.

Russ and Tracy got married and lived happily ever after.

Work:
1. No matter where you work, or who you work for, you have to represent YOU. Your name and reputation will follow you throughout your career.
2. "I" may fuck something up, but when it's right, "WE" got it right.
3. Never be too proud to clean up the work space. I'm the foreman at our shop and the guys still see me sweep the floors and wipe down the bathrooms.
4. As said before, never ask someone to do something you either haven't done before or wouldn't do.

Personal:
Be the man you want your daughter to marry. Set the example of how a man should treat her and take care of her.
Save money when you can but spend as much time with your family as possible. If that means blowing $1,000 on a camping trip with them, fuck it. They will always have those memories to take with them.
Oh, and buy the boat!

a couple of things......

1. If your company offers a tool account program.... USE IT THUROUGHLY! It will almost always be cheaper and easier to buy tools through your company than out of your own pocket or on your own credit cards.

2. Even if you know how to accomplish a task, listen when someone offers advice. There my be a step or direction that you didn't think of that can be applied to your process to make it easier, or their process may be easier or more efficient.

3. My advice on work phones varies from above. Take the separate work phone. I watched my dad have only 1 phone for years and I could see the stress pour over him as soon as his phone would ring. Even if it was a personal call, before he saw it wasn't work, you could see the blood pressure raise. Just do your best to save the contacts and forms you feel are pertinent to your work as your go.
