I spend so much time moving trailers for work. My brain has actually flipped and it is harder for me to back up now without the damn trailer.
There are a handfull of us on here that drive 18 wheelers. Am I the only one rolling my eyes at some of the comments.

Seriously though with that job as a yard hostler you had to make so many moves per hour. Every trailer you pick up has to be backed into a position somewhere in the yard. Backing up to me is the same as going forward. And I'm the worst teacher.
I could!who thinks they could launch a boat that is hooked to a 5th wheel trailer pulled by a truck?
I did one of those on the hook, it wasn't easy at all! UPS doubles were fun toobacking this is crazy hard! almost impossible. 3 pivots on this. the 5th wheel the pintle and the B turn table. blah!!
Couldn't agree more. The thing about backing is set up or position of the combination be before you even go start to backwards with a trailer , a lot guys fail before they even begin to back up ! :rolleyes

No, just ran a heavy duty wrecker like McRib. I towed some fucked up stuff though!Obviously someone who's hooked sets before. [emoji106]
Backing a gear under a back box is absolutely about setup and then the first move in reverse sets the direction of the gear. You can't teach this. It's something you have to figure out in your head and practice.
