I would like to dyno my truck factory stock so I can compare the post flash data. They do say parts in the left column.

Main problem is they will block my registration renewal here in CA and its up in the first week of May.

Read away. Pissed its now the owners problem. How about a nice de-rated truck anyone?

Do a before/after dyno, I'm definitely curious. If it's a lot different you may be able to make dodge buy it back or cut you a check.

Can the new and old "tunes" be saved on a tuner device somehow and swapped?

Or do they even sell "tuners" anymore after the EPA crackdown??

I think what VW did was genius and look how long it took for anybody to figure it out.

Power probably won't be as affected as mileage is. If you have been keeping records of your mileage that would be more interesting.

Under high throttle is not where the emissions police focus.

its not a mileage king mileage anyway. It will surly suck to see it get worse.

I am considering looking for a mega cab of the 2006 and older vintage and do a full restore. Its just that this truck really inspires towing confidence. The older trucks dont hold a candle.

I am pretty disappointed that this deal is now at my feet.

Ford had the same "fix" for the Raptors. Under warranty, some would twist driveshafts. So, replace the part and reflash the factory tune. A noticeable difference, heard of customers asking for a reflash to the old flash 😳

Same kind of deal, cover their ass and screw the owner.

Well shit. I JUST purchased my '18.
I also have a 2018 2500.

My Son has my old 04 2500 5.9, 49 state truck. No cat and in cylinder EGR. Basically no smog.
At some point CA will come for it...just watch and wait. Assholes.

How far back does the recall go? I got my truck serviced under a recall and the service writer showed me they reflashed the ECM and ever since then my truck drinks DEF and is a complete dog. Even has a turbo surge at 1500-1600 rpm’s that was not there before. It’s a bone stock 2016 with 90k on the clock. Bums me out so much that it might go under the knife here in real America and get my old truck back.

I just received my notice as well, but in AZ it doesn't look like they will hold up the registration renewal if this is not completed.

I have yet to jump on TDR or any of the other forums to see but like @JDub24 said I expect drivability issues from def use to less mileage.

Dont worry though as their will be a class action lawsuit and each owner will receive $37 in damages....creating a gutless fuel hog.

If this goes the way all the other manufacturers fixes have....

You'll get a check for many thousands of dollars.

Wait till the warranty extension runs out, and have it tuned However you want.

I was months away from this when my son totalled my Jetta. Talk about bummed!!!

Well shit…. I jinxed myself. Just got the recall in the mail today. I’m going to talk to my local dealership and see what exactly the recall entails. I live in Idaho so if I choose not to do it ..oh well

I bought this truck in Kellogg ID. Perhaps they should pick it up, flash it, and bring it back.

Just purchased my '18 the Saturday before Xmas. It was on the lot for about 60 days. What are the chances that Shaver up in TO did the reflash prior to sale? I have heard about a 'stop sale' on things like this before. I did hit my buddy up at the local Dodge dealership in Signal Hill and he said there isn't a record of mine being done yet but that doesn't mean it hasn't. He says that they don't update the info until the dealership has been paid for the work. I called Shaver and no one seemed like they wanted to dig to find out for me  so I guess I'll have to check back in a couple of weeks.

Any service advisor at Shaver should be able to pull up your service history of any warranty work done, paid for or not.

The "used car" or "internal" (paid for by the dealer) refurb work may not show in the system, it was that way at several dealers I worked at.

Delete your truck and be done with it. Enjoy it and move on when you’re ready.
How when you live in a smog state, grew up here, parents grew up here, own and run my own company here....Shit I wish leaving was easier.

However I win the lottery...nobody will be able to fine me. ;) 🍻

I got my truck (2016 2500) flashed on Friday. I had no choice since I live in CA and my reg is due in Feb. Had to get it flashed so I can drive enough miles to ensure all the smog stuff is working so I can get a smog check and register it.

Have you noticed any changes in how the truck drives? I’ve seen a few posts on the Cummins forums, but not many have gotten the flash done yet.

Some rumors that it will increase DEF consumption, but reduce EGR use- which should be a good thing.

I haven't really drove it much to notice. I am also anticipating increased DEF consumption as my truck barely consumed any prior to the flash. I want to say just running it around town it feels a little better, but still not enough miles to really tell. Probably going to have to plan a road trip to the river or Vegas to log the miles to get the emissions back on line. I want to say I remember it being 250 miles or so, but I'm not a mechanic.

Perhaps but there are setups of CARB, Commercial Officers, and CHP at both landfills I routinely visit.

I was told they carry the ability to scan current software.

I am going to hold off right until the middle of May and see what people say about the result. Only one youtube guy currently saying the update is nothing but a waste of time and money.

I've heard there were guys able to tune the Cummins ECU's to where the extra stuff was no longer being used, and the program itself, when connected to the scanner, would still show them as active. That's black magic stuff to me, but it was like they turned off the drivers that actually moved the egr, or powered the Def system, but you could still "talk" or "see" it through the interface.

Here is another re-flash situation. Excessive Def and poor mileage.

So the way this works is the Trap oxidizer gets dosed with Diesel and lights it off (worse mileage) and the SCR cleans the excessive regen to convert the NOx (more DEF).

This is a bummer deal. I remember my 2005 F-350 (6-Oh) had to have a recall performed before I could renew the registration. Whatever it was, the truck got worse mileage, and regenned the DPF frequently. It ran terrible during the regen. Everything was stock on the truck, except a lift, tires and wheels.

Anyways, I would be pissed if I owned a dodge.

I don't think the 6.0's had DPF's.

I have been told that, and maybe it didn't. But, it did some sort of regen that you could feel it running crappy while it was doing it. I don't know. I just know I had to complete the recall to renew the registration, and the results were 👎👎

Just a heads up I was able to renew the tags at the Auto Club today no issues. Their DMV system gave the guy helping me zero issues.

That buys me a year of having to give up my truck, filled with tools, for an entire day. :)
