I was coming up to the second bend by the railroad tracks from leaving Vidal Junction, a guy behind me was matching my speed when my V1 went off. I slowed down and tapped my brakes repeatedly to give this guy a warning, he flew by me and his passengers (college sausage fest) flipped me off as they passed me. A mile plus up the road road they were pulled over. I honked and my wife waved as we drove by. You can lead a horse to water….

And THIS, answers this;

To be honest, I'm amazed they can even write tickets anymore.

Thank you for attending my TED talk.

You know what’s crazy ? Since I retired, I now never drive faster than the flow of traffic , don’t have to because everyone is speeding . On long trips I do use a radar detector, but it’s mainly for going through small towns . The cost of a speeding ticket isn’t just the ticket itself with all the fees , you get points on DL , insurance goes up and it affects your credit score too . Plus I absolutely hate contributing to the general fund .
Credit score from a ticket? I think somebody is pulling your leg that told you that info. If you don't pay your tickets then maybe?

I'm on my second cordless Passport Solo S2. Escort stopped making them years ago. I bought the first one around 1992, the current one is close to 15 years old. I drive over the speed limit. A lot. All the time.

The last time I received a speeding ticket was...well, I can't remember. My ancient box picks up KA signals from front and rear at distances approaching a mile. I can tell from experience when a police instant on unit is in use, it provides plenty of advance warning.

I've never come across a LEO running laser, so while the unit supposedly protects against that, it's untested.

Nice. Laser detection is useless anyway, by the time you get the alert +react + get the car actually slowed down, the cop has already put away the laser gun and is starting his bike to chase your ass down lol.

Laser jammers on the otherhand, are worth the $1-2k price of admission if you drive like a leadfoot like I do. My only deal is I always put off the installation for the "next car that will be faster" therefore I have never installed one lol

When the laser detection goes off, that’s about the time you floor it. 😂.

I'm really surprised that nobody never brought up not needing one on rice road.🙃

My $49 Walmart one works great. It does have all sorts of sounds around buildings and stuff. I couple it with Waze. No tickets yet. My buddy calls it a fat people detector. As you roll by alarmed buildings, there’s always “people” in view when it goes off!😂

I run a max 360 and a laser jammer , in the 5 years or so the laser jammer has saved me probably a dozen times, pretty satisfying not getting the ticket when being lasered , I’m an outside sales rep and do a lot of driving

I found that painting my car black and white and glueing dead flashlight heads all over the car’s grille, and an old Cb antenna really helped lower my ticket count. Maybe it’s professional courtesy?

Ok I’m kidding.

Maybe.

When I have the 5th wheel and the boat running tandem behind the F-150, I usually keep the cruise set at 95.. the truck stop special uniden detector hasn’t failed me yet. 🤣🤣

See? If you had an old 7.3 like me, you wouldn't be able to go fast enough to need a radar detector! 👍🏼

I have both the V1 and a Passport. The V1 always alerts before the Passport!

Been running a Beltronics STI Magnum for years. Has saved me multiple times.

Looked up a comparison since the valentines seem so popular. Seems like it holds it own.

After reading this I just bought the new valentine. Got a speeding ticket on Rice Road a while back that this probably would have saved me from. It was my dumb ass fault though I hit resume on the cruise control after being on the 10 at 81. Usually turn it down to 76 on Rice. But the kids were asleep and my wife and I were just talking and carrying on in the truck. Chp came the opposite direction and turned around and lit me up.

I have a Valentine one on a blend mount. I run JBV1 app with it, the app does red light cam, aircraft, and other things.

I use it to let me there are officers in the area to help if needed i never speed.
The Waze app also gives you a heads up if something is in the road. Pot holes, unplowed snow s as lefts, and much more.

There are areas where it’s lacking use, but for the most part it gives you ample warning of flashing Red light activity, and “cars parked on the side of the road” 😜
