I've been running Propel's Hpv diesel and no issues. Same mpg and actually feels just a bit snappier on initial throttle. I do think the injectors are louder though which is odd because lubrication wise it's supposed to be better.

I know the bio stuff got a bad rap because of the fuel filter issues but like the propel stuff it has a cleaning agent that was basically breaking up all the garbage you had in your tanks especially on the oolder trucks and taking out filters like no tomorrow.

Lots of people with filter issues and that stuff. If they change their fuel filters more often it seems to help. No thanks $$

Also seems to get noticeably worse mileage

I went to one pump today at Arco it had R99. Chevron B20. Finally found Diesel at VP. It was for my Cat skidsteer so I didn't want to take any chances. Paid a little more buy still under $5.

Thankfully still have some old school #2 around town which is what I fill up with 90% of the time. I’ll run the bio stuff when I’m short on time the other 10% of the time.

Truck is a 2023 so there are all sorts of emissions BS on the truck. Can anyone shed some light on if the bio stuff is just as safe on the longevity of the emissions systems / motor as the old #2?

We have about 30-40 trucks running daily for our business. Most are propane bobtails delivering to customers. In our experience we've had issues but we believe most of that is because of how are trucks are running and the emissions bs. Our bobtails go from customer to customer which is sometimes out one driveway and into the next. The truck idles up at each stop to run the pto system while filling tanks. Because alot of the stops are so close the trucks really never run a good distance down a freeway until the drivers are done with their route. We have issues with the emissions systems clogging up, it seems none of the newer trucks like idling at all and want to be running down a freeway instead. We are curious if its a mixture of both the emissions systems and renewable diesel that are causing us issues. We are about to get into the wet hose diesel fueling business and plan to start running #2 diesel in our trucks to see if that helps with some of the problems. For those curious #2 diesel is about $.25-$.35 higher per gallon from a wholesale price point

I was talking to a friend of mine who was a chemical engineer at Chevron (retired a few months ago) and he said its the same as normal diesel and shouldn't react or operate any differently.
That's what vegans say about Wonder beef too. If it's the same and doesn't react or operate any differently why change it.

I'm sure California will mandate that in the near future as you cannot find a station near me that isn't already using that. I used to drive out of my way to find stations with diesel#2 but anymore it's just not possible

my 19 F350 says b20 max on the cap and seems like everything around town is switching to full biodiesel blends. Been harder and harder to find regular number 2. I was going to ask the dealer when i take it in for service next to see what they say about it (R99, and also 100% bio), and if there is a conversion (fuel filter maybe?), might be totally unfounded, I just fear the unknown.

IMO from the stuff I’ve dealt with the B20 is okay with the newer emission stuff and I think better because it burns hotter which the emission stuff likes. The older stuff seems to get worse mileage the motor is louder/clanky even after adding some lubricant. Just not designed for that type of fuel imo with the pre 06ish motors.

The biggest thing with the emissions systems is the idle time. Limit the idle as much as possible especially if it’s the DPF (early system) style that dosent use def fluid.

I run whatever the pump has, as a matter of fact I don't even look what it is.
