That's sad...I remember him being quoted as saying in an interview one time " out on the water it's merely a battle of wallets, if it takes more money to win, so be it " true as in so many thing in life ...

So sad - he was an incredible force.

He was the Boss Hoss distributer for Louisiana. I was talking with him about putting a small block Ford into one and he said " damn if I know if it can be done. The truth is I do not know how any of this crap works - I just know how to make enough money to hire people who do know."

Made perfect sense to me.

Rest in Peace Al.

His services are tomorrow here in town. His race shop is right next to the interstate and I pass it everyday coming home from work. I'll see if I can get a pic for y'all, they have a big banner across the front of the shop with the date he was born and the day he died. Al Copeland was a big local and international legand. I'll miss seeing him blow across the lakefront in his turbine cat.

He did a lot of good things for the community, and he will be missed. Al Copeland was about as colorful of a character as they come.

I passed on an opportunity about 10 years ago to work in his shop on the race team at the very bottom of the Totem Pole. I always wondered if that was a mistake passing that job up to go work at the dealership.
