We use them exclusively for our fenders. We have one next to each pop-up cleat. That way the pop-up cleats are used for dock lines and the pin cleats are for the fenders. We had the boat built this way.

Don't use screws to attach the pin mount. Use stainless through bolts with nylocks

Don't think they use any screws. Just one hole.

I looked at pics online and you are correct. I've mounted lots of pop up cleats, but never the quick pin release. Looks to have a threaded shaft for a washer and nut to mount to underneath the deck. I'd still try to use a nylock to make sure it doesn't loosen up over time. Use a little anti seize when installing!

I have used them before and they are bad ass.. That said is there room to just install larger cleats where yours are at currently? Sucks to add even more hardware if you don't need too?

I was thinking more on the lines of pop up cleats. I've seen some companies that screwed the cleats into the deck rather than through bolt.

At first, I thought the quick pin housing had a few bolt holes to mount, but after looking online, it just has 1 threaded shaft.

My cleats are recessed into notches in the hull. It's a DCB extreme. So there's no room for bigger cleats. I can live with the small cleats if a dock line is all I need to put on it. I agree that I would rather not add hardware but these just look really convenient yo use.

Opted against them...didn’t want to watch one drop onto the gel/paint when it slips from someone’s hands.

I like them. Came on the DCB. I have the line attached to the pin then the bumper a little further down the line. Pop the pin in with bumper attached, use the rest of the line to tie off.
I also added them to my 240 so I could reach them from inside the boat. We use to have to get on the deck to attach the front bumper.
They're easy to install and if your careful you won't have problems with keeping your gel-coat nice. You won't be sorry.
