I hear what you are saying, but at the same time its hard to take technical advice from someone who could not pass third grade spelling and grammar! I have seen many people who are probably highly intelligent but cant spell for shit try and give advice on the boards. On a side note, I had to laugh one day when a member who has been around since hotboat came around asking what was a good spell check program to use because his was no longer working. This was the same asshat who came in to a thread like a fucking mr spell it all lambasting every one for not being able to spell.

Hot Boat was a tough crowd. Not easy to be a newbie there. Especially with a name like D&Y. I chose that name because I lurked for awhile (didn't think it mattered). Then I started posting in the jet boat section, I really should've changed names 1st. LOL

I think being a newcomer here is a lot easier. Hot Boat was full of a pack of angry wolves. Also seemed to be a few clicks, and if you disagreed with one person, the entire posse would come after you.

Especially in the cat section....it was easy to become an antelope at a hyena party......

. . . for the same reason I do not have a Facebook page. Everything posted online stays there forever, accordingly, I am very selective in what I say. If you have ever been through a legal deposition, you know a good plaintiff lawyer can find stuff, especially out of context, and make you look very bad.

The first forum I joined I knew everything...and got stepped on. So being butthurt I left. I wandered back by a few months later and found that several people had defended me and put the uninformed in their place.

I wouldn't say that. I'm not personal friends with that many people here. Over the years (been posting for about 6 years now) I've met a few people at the river as they recognized my boat or I recognized their's and we chatted over a beer or two. Or some people I have met while buying or selling something to/from them. Some of them I have become good friends/acquaintances with.

This place is not nearly as "clicky" as Hot Boat or the early days of Performance Boats was. Being that you you and your wife don't have to be swingers to be welcomed to the boards.

I admit, I shied away from here for awhile because it seemed like if you didn't have a place in Parker, you were not part of the clan. Seems when PB mellowed out, people came here to pick fights and cause drama. RD quickly ended that shit and whipped out the ban stick and this place became very pleasant. PB just died and bcame very boring. The only reason I go there now is for the Tech and Spam Sections. I basically just lurk there now.

i dont post cuz my boat is still broke. Figured i would have fixed it by now, but havent had the chance...time....or whatever. Now, The wife and i are looking to sell the current house and get into a nicer house, area and schools for the kids, so its on hold.

but, my parents still go to the river pretty much every other weekend. So i like to check on the site when their out there, or before they go. i figure if their in an accident i would probably hear about it here, before someone tracked my number down to notify me or my brother.

and theres alot of good general info on this site.....like river 911 getting his A license....i have my C-27 and im thinking of going for my A ....and i've bought a gun from someone on this site through the gun section, felt like i could trust them.
