Quarantine boredom, why not polish the boat

Figured now is the perfect time to buff out the boat. I didn't neglect it, bought it this way. Used McGuiares 3 step marine kit

This was my first time buffing a boat so don't be scared. Cars are much easier to mess up in my limited experience. I was surprised how forgiving the gelcoat was vs cars where you get swirl marks, burn through etc. pretty easily.

I just polished the diamond plate on my boat trailer fenders. that's really bored.

I got the variable speed buffer from Harbor Freight and it works great on the boats.

If u guys just use a DA polisher, you should be ok. Pretty hard to fuck things up with one of those......now a circular polisher is another story....gotta have more skills to use one of those.

Just start at low rpm and work your way up.. when you start seeing wood, back it off a little.. lol

Just finished polishing my wife’s Camaro, black paint is great. Thinking about going after the boat after reading this thread. DA only is my skill level!

Gel coat is hard as fuck compared to paint, 1400 rpms max ,I like 3m perfect it two the best. But your boat came out great. Nice job

Dual Action.
It spins and moves in a non circular pattern. Really difficult to burn through paint and gel coat with a DA Polisher.
