I was on Powell on July 3rd no one inspected our boat after launching. They did look at it before which I thought was funny because Powell already had it. 😂

They would have had better luck decontaminating boats before launching. Just saying... Obviously someone lied on their pre launch questions... How could we have known that would happen?

About Powell................I want to think the inspection and decon is done after coming out of the lake to stop the spread that is already in Powell. A lot of local lakes in Utah do not have the quaggas and they are trying to keep them out.

I can’t help but notice that a lot of the reasons for violations listed in the article have to do with how you don’t give the government enough of your time and money.

I was leaving mead and at the wipe down lane some chick walked up to me and asked if my drain plug was removed, and asked to see my anchor line.

I could understand the drain plug, but the anchor line I didn't understand.

I have always been diligent about the Utah tag(s) and class. Not doing it this year, nobody cared that we offered to show our paperwork last year.

No plug to remove in the new toon, should make for interesting conversation at time of inspection.

Maybe they should ask some of the boaters as they get there if they have put their plugs in! 🤔

I recently put new line on my mooring at Pirates, it had been in the water for 6 years, only about 6 ft between anchor chain and float.

To my surprise there were 15 or so Quagga muscles attached. Traveling thru Vidal they always ask about anchors and line along with drain plugs.

A previous boat I had used JDA drains, should have seen them look at those, LOL Hands on his knees looking at them, HMMMM where's the plug?

Only inspection I ever had that made sense. Bass boat and all he wanted was anchors and rodes.

My anchor stayed in same spot for 3 days over Memorial weekend on Powell. Chain and anchor both had many mussels already attached. First time that's happened to me and we usually go twice a month.

The water was really clear over memorial. Quaggas filter the suspended algae and create some of the clearness… so I am not suprised. Plus the bass fishing was epic with the clear water.

I’d like to know how thorough of an inspection do they do on the insides of the ballast tanks on rollbar boats?

None which is what makes those wakeboard boats probably the most likely vector.

For example Arrowhead won’t let you use anything that has been in infected waters, and will make you decontaminate your engine by pumping hot bleach water through it. But they don’t do the outdrive, and absolutely ignore the ballast tanks.

You could have ballast tanks full of mussels and they never considered that.

Had that at the komifornia fruits and nuts check at vadelia. This after blowing a motor and filling the bilge with oil. The chick said I had to pull the drain. Told her it's full of oil. She said pull it. I said ok. Pulled it and dumped about 10 quarts of oil on their asphalt. She commenced to bitching. Then she wanted to see my anchor rope. I told her she can climb up in the cabin and get it. But she better put my cover back on right. She said get the hell out of here. So I left and they had to close the lane and hazmat it

I went through there before with a blowed up engine. They saw Nevada plates and said keep it going.

A few years ago, pulling the Hallet out of antelope point Marina, in page, as I was going up the launch ramp, some guy with a bucket hat and a badge came over and asked me to show him all of my anchor lines, fender lines, fender covers, and anything else that might’ve been wet so he could check them for Quaga. He also verified that my drain plugs were out and then he asked me where I had been and where I was going as far as bodies of water the boat was a would be used in. The whole thing took about five minutes and I was on my way.

I’m pretty sure they figured out that it was the bass boat guys.

With their tournament schedules and live wells it makes sense to me.

They do the same at Vidal. Have to show them your anchor. I have a small jet ski anchor I keep in my truck bed. They think it will anchor my boat. ;)

Friend of mine towing his jet ski was stopped at Vidal. Checked his anchor line and found some spat. They put a wire tag on his trailer to the ski and came to his house 30 days later to cut it off.

I thought if you paid the tax and got the sticker the mussels knew not to get on your boat.
Just paid my fee and damned if I didn't have my phone with me to video when they all jumped off!
