I have tried to schedule this show for at least 7 years now. This weekend I happened to come up to Tahoe on a whim with some friends and literally just spotted a sign for the Concourse De' Elegance. Purely accidental! Someday, I will pickup a neglected wooden boat and spend a couple of years building it up to this level...

My personal favorite: Big Sky Montana

A friend of mine restores those for a living and has for the last 35+ years.... A true artist, if you can't match the grain in the wood, you do it with an artist's brush.

If you think restoring cars is expensive, try boats...

It is a bucket list event, guys.
I didn't see any pics of the Thunderbird, it is usually out and about for this deal.
The Thunderbird is, well it is the epic level of these boats in my view...and all of them are stunning.
Seeing them on the waters of Tahoe is worth the trip from just about anywhere.
We were coming through Truckee on our way home from Hot August Nights this afternoon and were about 1/2 tempted to say to heck with it and go over Brockway Summit into North Shore and spend the night, but too much going on this week.

Thanks for posting. I hope to get up there one year. I'd love to do one of those, but I bought a barrel back CC model 10 years ago it still isn't done!

When I was young 4 or 5 probably, my great grandpa had a wooden boat that he would take out on a lake somewhere around Richmond or San Pablo. Too young to remember the name. I remember only one time being on it. Thinking it was huge and the sound it made was awesome when under power. Now I need to ask my dad whatever became of the boat. Pictures brought back an old memory in the back of the old bucket.
Thanks for the pictures.

Make it a point to take him next year. You will both highly appreciate it. I only wish I still had my dad to do stuff like this with.

You're doing it twice as fast as most of these guys. :)
