The upside is a snake's effective striking distance is generally 2/3 his length so you really have to get close.

Pick him up and turn him loose a ways off from the house and let him do his job.
Personally I'd rather have them than the pack rats.

I was fishing at Bartlett last night. Saw two right up by the Bartlett turn off leaving. Both small, but not that small. With the wet winter, I'll bet theres a whole shitload of snakes.

My wife substitute teaches in Cave Creek sometimes - Today they found a baby rattler inside one of the elementary schools, and they have found more than 10 around campus recently. Definitely need to keep eyes open
