My buddy was diagnosed with it. He was pretty sick for a while, but is doing well now. His biggest problem was a missed diagnosis, as his doctor brushed off his complaints and allowed it to worsen to Stage 4.

Even being at Stage 4, he only had one chemo treatment. He couldn’t do the seed or removal because it had spread. Scans showed the cancer is still present but not growing, so they’re now controlling it with other cancer drugs and hormones. He said he’ll have to change drugs periodically, as his body will become immune to them.

The delayed diagnosis caused damage to his kidneys, so he has a kidney stent that has to be replaced every 3 months for the rest of his life….and he can’t drink alcohol anymore.

Bottom line though is he’s feeling good and traveling the same as before, and should live a normal life span. He’s 76 now.

With all treatments, you need to be able to follow the treatment plan.
Many treatments require the patient to stop drinking, and taking recreational drugs. This is usually a huge obstacle to a heavy drinker, or someone who regularly gets high.

Yes I was diagnoised with it aprox 2 1/2 yeare ago I have been treated with Lupron which has seem to have stopped it as my PSA has dropped to almost "0", the down side of lupron as it has also deleated my Testron there fore I have lost strength & stamina, have added 40+ pounds. Talk to your Oncologist and find out all options and drawbacks, there are several options, weight them all and choose whats best for you, AND STAY ALIVE

Had a prosectemy October 2018 I'm 59 now like another poster said start doing your kiegels now if you opt for surgery(makes huge difference in your incontinence). And yes if your active and healthy your junk will work again if they don't have to remove both nerve sacs. If you don't workout start that helps with your natural testosterone level.

If it’s been a few months, it might be worth having a PSA test again. Most prostate cancers are slow growing and usually something else will kill you before the prostate cancer. There are a couple that are fast moving, so not something to ignore. It’s a painful dreadful way to die.

I had a bad case (according to the Dr) at 63. Had the radical non nerve sparing prostatectomy. Laparoscopic deal took like 45 minutes. Fast because they took everything.
2 serious things can or will happen post surgery. Number one is urinary incontinence. The other is profound and permanent E.D. Luckily I had no issue with the urinary incontinence. With the non nerve sparing surgery the medication for E.D. is completely ineffective. However the injection therapy is astoundingly effective if you get the quad mix. And I am not kidding about it being effective. But it took about 8 to 12 months of recovery time for it to become effective. I could go on some more and would be glad to message anyone interested about the rest of my experience.

Dads went undiagnosed for an estimated 20 years.
He was finally diagnosed at age 54, stage 4.
He had removal surgery and chemo that I know of.
Later he had some sort of chemo time release dealio put in his arm, maybe what the other guys here are taking about?
I was not cancer knowledgeable back then so can’t say the exact treatments.

Even being diagnosed so late he still made it 13 more years after diagnosis, with top treatments of the time, as he had stellar 2 tier insurance.
He Died at 67 yo from metastasis into his kidneys and bones.
Kidney tumors are what killed him.
Just like Debbie, it was more of a nuisance to him until the last year of his life.
(That’s when cancer steamrolls and flexes its “emperor of all maladies” status.)
It’s been like 15 years or more since he died, so over 27 years since he got diagnosed so late in his affliction. That’s light years as far as advancements go.
Today, early diagnosis and PSA monitoring has favorably and drastically altered morbidity statistics.
I’m 63, this years PSA was 2.2 as I recall?
At my age I’ve now won that particular race.

I thought I had it, ended up being so so for now, I would look up Dr Lee at UCI If your insurance allows you to go there, talked to many people in the field and his name always came up along with another surgeon he works with.

I was diagnosed after I left Kaiser , they only tested my PSA 1 time in 10 years although I did have a annual blood test. My PSA was 78 in June of '22 had a radical proctectomy in Sept and initial PSA 3 mo after surgery was 0.05. Unfortunately that # doubled every 3 mo till it hit 0.2. In Jan this year I started radiation 5 days a week 35 total sessions. In May the PSA was 0.1 , last month dropped to 0.05. The Kegel exercises do work I went to PT and recommend it . I refused the ADT hormone treatment the side effects are ridiculous and they don't cure cancer. At best they will lower your PSA artificially , my radiation oncologist agreed with me . I would put them in the same category as Covid 19 shots , huge $$ makers for the Pharma and kick backs to the medical establishments. I also attended a prostate cancer support group , not a bad thing just remember everyone's situation is different.

Any PSA approaching 4.0 (mine was 20+ when I started treatment) needs to be evaluated by an oncologist asap. After treatment in late '22, mine now is currently 0.4 as of last week.
Don't procrastinate, get it checked you knuckleheads.
FYI, the treatment I elected was Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, 41 sessions.

My dad and his brother. Brother gets meds or injections will live with it for his life. But it won't be what kills him. Dad's was much more aggressive. They removed his prostate. I would try to avoid this. It wasn't so much the procedure it was the complications that arose after and we still deal with. He lost the ability to control or feel the sensation of needing to use the restroom. This was after many procedures to clear his urethra that would close from the scar tissue and numerous catheters. He is however both of them are very much still with us.

I just did the biopsy 3 days ago, it's not a big deal at all.

Thanks. I did too about ten years ago. Ive been tracking psa and it just creeps up.. If I wait 2 months it goes from $4,000 to basically free under medicare.

First off where do you live at if you live in remote area like like Havasu good luck you need to go to Las Vegas possibly Los Angeles to get the absolute best treatment. Of course so much depends on the type of insurance you have but if you don’t mind posting or send me a DM, let me know one of my close personal friends in my Lamborgini Club is one of the best urologist in the western United States. As a private group out of West Los Angeles they practice out of Cedars. Sinai. The big thing is to get it quick at the worst you have to have prostate removal but unless it’s really progressed, you can live a normal very very long life. My brother had it at 44. He’s 69 now. No issues.


Those of you that are having biopsies based on an MRI where they have great concern about the MRI results and your physician does not have the capability with a very expensive unit to overlay MRI with ultrasound DM me. No one in Nevada could even do this. My personal friend in West LA urologist has his capability they can go in and do a biopsy on specialized areas rather than just guessing sink a hole and see what comes up. You don’t always strike gold. Movember Lamborghini America, and all the clubs and all the well to do people across the country have runs every year and raised millions of dollars for this research. It’s really behind.

What the exercise does is strengthen the bladder muscles which helps w/ leakage / dick dribble

It’s common to get the prostate cancer killed off and then your muscles don’t work like they used to to control bladder functions.
