It’s located on your engine spec tag.

Joe at hotlaps is a great recommendation and I do believe the 22 with a 300xs should be I. The high 80’s possibly low 90’s.

My recommendation is focus on props made for 2 stroke outboards. Bravo xs, Bblades blaster, drag 4, Promax, etc.

Bravo 1's designed for srerndrives will not yield best top speeds with the lowest slip.
A hydraulic Jack plate is also a major plus. Semi surfacing the right prop will maximize top end and still produce great flexibility from getting on plane to Max top end....

A hydraulic Jack plate is one of the keys for this type of boat and engine. Imo

From what I've read I think you are right.
A hydraulic jack plate is great to play with height while running. But even just a manual jack plate where you stop for a second, give it a couple cranks with a ratchet and test again is a HUGE help.

Sorry guys.....my mistake. Not 6900...5900.

Thanks for the correction. Now we are right back to my original recommendation of a 26p bravo and I’d suggest the Bravo XS like RCDave runs on his 22 Cougar.

Thanks!!! It's all stock, so if I went down to a 26 I've still got a little room on the limiter but would I gain top end? Also should I lower the motor 1 hole?

Yes, most likely your top end will increase because you’d got 500 rpm more until the limiter. You biggest factor is slip. Currently it’s about 14-15, you need to get that down to under 10. Try the 26 at the hole you are on now, report back before dropping it down a hole.

Here’s your slip info with the 28.

Here is what my Nordic ran speed, Rpm, slip, etc with 26p XS

So at what water pressure should I watch for? Just idling its about 5-6, 30 -40 mph its about 10-12. Legged out its 15.

This is all good and I’d try to keep it there. Idle shouldn’t be affected by engine height. Running if my memory is correct 8 psi is the absolute lowest you’d want to see. If it stays where you are at now you’re golden.

I don't see a Bravo XS on the Mercury prop page, what is the XS?

Your ok with those numbers, mine run similarly, about 15 at 110, 5 or so at idle

I had an 01 Mach 22 with a 300 promax, i saw 91mph wide open with a worked 26 bravo 4. When i bought the boat it came with a 24p and 28p bravo 4, after doing some research and alot of reading I sold the 28 (although it worked well except in late summer where we are very hot and humid) I bought a 26p bravo 4 and sent it off to R&R prop Shop in Henderson. The guys there had already tested and tuned a 26 for the exact set up I had in the past and that was the starting point for my prop. My 26 had been back and forth to R&R 3 times I think until we found the correct tuning on it. Kevin at R&R elongated the vent holes to help with getting on plain and he flared the end of the prop a hair (if i remember correctly) in order to roll the bow down a little more before the prop started to cavitate. This turned out to be the only prop I ran whether i was loaded down or making a run.

I think your water pressure is just fine so I wouldn't really mess with height at this point especially if it's netting you more mph.

Jack plate is good but also one more thing to adjust.

Are you trying to get best mph or just looking for a good prop? Thing is with outboards it's good to either be ok with one all around prop that you use or if you are into best mph now you need to keep a different prop for that. I would base this all of what your goals are at the moment.

If you are looking for mph remember it's hot now so you won't net best mph. In this weather you're probably taking a 10% if not more hit just because of it so I wouldn't be focusing on mph this time of year.

Before you just buy one talk to Joe at hotlaps, he’s probably got one he’ll loan you to test plus his wealth of knowledge.

Also if you can find out what pitch the 5 blade is let me know, I may know someone who’d like to try/buy it.
