i looked for another section but couldn’t really find another one this would fit... anyways, who’s using it? I just created a bunch of projects and I’m finishing the first electronic print reading class tomorrow. I like it a lot. I have more experience with plan grid and blue beam but I like how much support procore offers. Plan grid wants to charge and fight every step of the way. We had two rep come out last week and do a 2 day training. People that know me, know that I don’t fuck around. First week I hit the ground running and ran a pilot class. The guys have been stoked about it, I’ve beem stoked about it, and procore is pretty stoked. Who else is using it? And why am I stoked about work at 8pm? Maybe there is something wrong with me

The GCs that I bid to use it. Bidmail seems easier to navigate thru.

Work for a GC I like it, we use it. I like the “overlay” or drawing comparison deal. Makes it really nice when drawing revisions come out and walls have shifted/changed.

So far the only thing I don’t really like is that it kind of saves everything. Like pictures... with a bunch of apprentices its a little hard to regulate. Hasn’t happened yet but this is what I picture... girl apprentice bends over, guy apprentice takes a picture, sends an rfi asking what color underwear she’s wearing. I hope it doesn’t happen but I need to be able to delete shit like that.

If they realized that something like that would cost them their career, they would probably think twice about it.

That’s very true. I think if I write up some sort of policy that I have them all sign, I can probably give a stern warning. That’s a really good idea thank you

Trying to keep a Union carpenter / ironworker / rod buster / Laborer from drawing dicks in the Andy Gump's is impossible......you know that right. I can imagine giving guys below the foreman level Plangrid / Procore would result in dick pics by lunch time

We made the move to Plan Grid last year. Seems to work really well. The only problem we notice is that the level of functionality isn't the same between Ipad, and Desktop. Little differences. It does not replace Bluebeam however - Bluebeam has capabilities far above / beyond what Plangrid does, they aren't the same tool. If you are just viewing plans, saving sheets, conforming sets of documents, storing photos and documentation - Plangrid works great.

We have had it for a year. I love being able to upload our drawings (changed from Build Tools) and the bidding tool is great. As with anything sometimes it's a little difficult to get sub's etc.. up to speed and use to using it.

We use it as a CM. Some of our PEs have impressed me with it. Definitely come a long way since I've had use it regularly.
GC side uses it for everything.

I still prefer a real set of drawings. But an ipad is easier to lug aroud the site than a half set.

We use Procore both as subs, and as a GC. We run Blue Beam as well. We are a big MEPF contractor that is typically a sub, but also act as the prime on some jobs.

Procore on the sub side--

PROS- GREAT TOOL!! The program is easy to work, easy to find what you are looking for, far less of the he said she said BS when its all listed out plain as day. Following and tracking RFIs, ASIs, CCDs, etc. is very easy. Work seamlessly on mobile devices, and interacts from field to the office as well.

CONS- Guys can get lost in the mass info if they get too far in the weeds with what they are looking for. The notifications can get overwhelming! The standard notification time is in the middle of the night, so if you sleep with your phone on, the SOB goes off in the middle of the night!

Procore on the GC side--

PROS- You need less office staff per job because this streamlines a lot of the bullshit! Everything else listed above applies.

CONS- IT IS INSANELY EXPENSIVE!!!

You can adjust the level of permissions each user has. Some people can be read only, so the knuckleheads can't issue an RFI like that.

We use it at work, it is a good tool. I personally don't like the bidding feature in Procore, so I had our team switch back to Bidmail for bidding.

I don’t think so? They are pretty involved with us out at the international.

Must have changed. One of the foreman meetings they had us bash them on social media. LoL

Yea must have changed. They are hosting a big event here in our training center. I’m kind of leading the charge which is cool. I like a little glory

How would Procore be anti-union? They sell software to companies, they'd want to sell it to as many companies as possible. Would make no sense for them to have a bias towards companies that hire union, or non-union labor. Like bashing microsoft for allowing residential contractors to buy computers.

I’m a big fan of Bluebeam. Procore doesn’t have the same functionality on the iPad to the desktop either.

That was a big part of the training. Laptop and iPad differences. Bluebeam does a while lot more but it’s intimidating. Procore is not fool proof but easier. Like someone said earlier some of the older guys really do get out into the weeds. Actually not even just older guys. The youngest guy loves pushing buttons when he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Constantly fucking up my Hilti robotic total station. It’s like he can’t help himself.
