I need some ideas on how to add about 4’ of fence on top of the neighbors block wall. My side is about 7’ at its tallest. Directly on the othe side, the first 25’ from the front is his pool 2’ off the wall. But his side is only 3’. I was thinking chain link fence post could be bolted to the top and put in chain link with privacy slats. Ideas?

Without permission, I'm not sure you can do anything to the neighbor's property.

6 foot may be max allowed by the building department. Not saying you shouldn't do it, but make sure neighbor is on board. If they don't like it, a call to the local city to complain and they could make you remove it...

Go to homedepot and buy the 2 by 8 trellis pin some legs to the wall and you gain 2 feet

If you run into problems with city or neighbor plant the shittiest tree you can to drop shit in there pool . Both my neighbors back filled there property and stare down at us too . We are going to put up Rod iron with laser cut paneling of turtles and b.s. about 3 feet tall .

We have the same issue at our home in CA. Our neighbors have a block wall about 2ft high with wrought iron on top and they look right down on our patio and backyard. They are not shy either about staring into our yard when we are using the patio or bbq'n so I totally get your annoyance with the issue.

I am looking into privacy hedges. My brother did this and they grew quick and now completely block out the neighbor. Not sure if these would grow well in the Havasu heat but a big hedge of some sort could be another option for you.

Particularly in LHC, if possible I would avoid solid block walls and other solid fencing. You lose air flow in the yard and/ or pool area.

Plant some Ficus Hedges. They'll block the wind and noise.

We just received last week, 1” x 6” lattice, which could also be used for fencing, the photo posted by vector is one by four and in a photo I have posted here is also one by four

it’s the construction of an 8 foot tall wall in our backyard in Huntington Beach. No rust and no maintenance.

Did your neighbors fill in dirt on their side to build it up? If so that brick is not rated for a retaining wall & could lead to some serious concerns of it collapsing on your side. Just a thought🤔

Doesn't that wall need to be 6' above your planter anyway since there is a pool on the other side?

We built this with my dad a few months ago. Still needs to be stained in the pic.

Was square within an 1/8th in every direction. Came out great IMO. The cedar was $25 a board I think, expensive and warps. I'd use metal now if I did it again.

Heres what I did. Im getting a new neighbor behind me and he insisted on building as close to the property lines as possible. Why? I dont know, but it’s a poor use of his dads property….. and it hides my junk area. I used privacy screening from https://www.barretteoutdoorliving.com/. I tried 4k Aluminum when we built but they didn’t offer anything at the time. The frame is aluminum and the panels are that composite vinyl/plastic (like Polywood) that float inside the framework. I had a warranty issue and they resolved it, no questions asked. And then behind the screen is 26 ficus nitidia columns. They’ll provide a majority of the screening. Just another idea.
