When the owner of Outerlimits went over I knew that was a game I had no interest in playing, several friends knew him and he knew his stuff.

I believe the shootout courses were shortened in an effort to bring down top speeds as a safety measure, but I could be mistaken

did 208 in 2015 on the 1 mile
did 216 in 2016 on the 1 mile

American Ethanol did 204 in 2018 on the 3/4 mile course (fastest recorded speed on 3/4 course)

Both of those boats are just flat moving. Sounds like this year there was no questioning results either. Wish I'd had stuck around for the weekend...never watched the shootout before.

We saw American Ethanol run 207 last year at the Shootout here at LOTO in 3/4 mile. I believe they are allowed to go 40ish mph at the start line

In the videos posted to IG by SB Magazine, it looks like they’re going way faster than 40 thru the start, did they change that? Or maybe where that camera is, isn’t the start line..?

Sounds similar to the drag boats.

I watched the fastest 1/4 pass(ithink) at 264. After that year they went down to 1000 feet. A few years later they were running 275 at 1000.

Nhra did the same thing. Shorten the course, racers will find a way to go faster and quicker. Congratulations Gary!

Hysterically shootouts had a 40mph max speed at the starting line. I heard that they allowed an increased starting line speed yesterday. I don’t know if that is true, or what the increased allowed start speed was. If the start speed was higher than 40 mph that would obviously help to have a higher top speed through the finish line.
