Sure!

My knowledge of Powell is mostly from Dangeling Rope North so keep in mind all these spots are in the middle to North end.

1- Rainbow Bridge - this one is obvious but a must if you have never been.
2- Cathedral Canyon - just south of Rainbow but I think one of the best canyons, with a small boat you can get into some tight spots.

3- Reflections Canyon - just cool entrance is just South of San Juan Arm
4- San Juan Arm - probably most remote area just fun to cruise up very few boats
5- Llewellyn Gulch - just North of San Juan, nothing crazy just a place I like to go park at the bend.
6- Escalante Arm - In my opinion the best location in Powell. Must hit Davis Gulch, 50 Mile Canyon. LaGorce Arch is up 50 Mile. Clear Creek canyon is also up Escalante this is where you can park and hike to Cathedral In The Desert
7- I really like going up to Good Hope Bay but this is WAY out there even launching from Bullfrog.

That's spot on great info. Powell is my favorite place on earth

I have been going about twice a year for the past 7 years out of wahweep and antelope and have never really got much north of rainbow bridge. This year I am starting to work north of rainbow to get some time on the San Juan / escalente arms of that gives you any idea about the scope of what’s ahead and how much gas there is to buy!

My fuel burn and nautical miles from havasu springs to the gorge is about the same as wahweep through the cut to dangling rope cutting the corners trying to keep a straight line..

A small block powered 21' boat will get about 2.8 -3.0 mpg at cruising speed (2800-3200 rpm) on average. Higher rpm this will drop significantly.

Big block powered 21-24' boat will get about 2-2.5 mpg at the same rpm/speed (assuming normally aspirated!).

Drop 2 inches in pitch in the prop department for starters.

Bring a GPS and let the daily odometer function run while starting with a full/topped off tank. Screw the gauges, they never work. Top the tank off, that way you have a known starting point. 50 gallon tank gets you about 120-150 miles of on the water travel depending on your comfort for reserve fuel.

It also helps to know exactly how much fuel your tanks ACTUALLY hold. Drain the tank from the fuel pick up location then top it off.

My old stomping grounds. When the lake was full there was gas at Hite, but that hasn't been an option for almost 20 years now.

Remote is the word for that part of Utah.

Any of you know about Verizon phone service while out on the lake? I know its sketchy at best in a few spots. My wife may need to participate on a conference call 1 day while we are camping. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. We hope to camp in Friendship Cove

You will need to go out in the bay and should be able to get a signal if you can see Navajo mountain.

Pretty spotty, but usually easy to get if you can drive the boat 5 miles you can pick it up. One trick that always works. If you can get to A spot in the main channel where you can see Navaho Mountain. You will have great service.

It’s a big round top mountain just about 10 miles east of where you will be. But visible from many spots on the lake.

camp where you can physically SEE Wahweep if you need good cell coverage.

there is a repeater the carries use on Najaho mountian. but since any and all traffic must go through that the service is congested and poor. you must have line of sight to navajo peak.
