Please post ONLY POSITIVE things in this thread. NO NEGATIVE!!! Thank you. :D

I'll start...

Grassroots series. More and more people keep showing up, and more smiling faces leave the races at the end of the day!

Grassroots is fabulous, The Aussies are amazing, but realistically, you have me now, what more could anyone possibly want:D:lmao

I'm seeing new blood come in and get their hands dirty. New people willing to step up and be President (and take the brunt of the abuse, thanks KDub). Willing to put their time and energy into getting races put together (Thanks Sean, how about a bit further south next time though;)). And willing to help newbies get involved, from loaning out gear, to training advice, to just being excited for people racing.

I know for a fact there is alot of work done behind the scenes that is ,for all intensive purposes, Thankless. I'm going to say thank you to the faceless drones behind the scenes making it possible to go race:champagne::D Thanks to you all!!!

Both my girls keep asking when the next race is and can they ski. My 11 year old now has moved up to a single ski and really likes it. My 10 year old is wright behind her.

Thought of another...

This site. I love being able to share the pics i take, and see the videos, and send out a link to the pic/videos after every race. It's pretty cool being able to show someone what the hell we are doing, and not just explain it.

My heart-rate goes up noticeably when i watch the video from the last race in Parker:thumbsup:bowdown:

That sounds super fun, but let me get the thing running first before I start considering racing her. ;)

I'm going out next week to start plumbing the water and fuel lines. :D:thumbsup

That makes two of us, I guess there gonna have to run two flights for the flatty class.

Did ANYBODY EVER contact the SCSC flat bottom drivers at Parker 2 Years ago, they have the Thanksgiving regatta and the spring fling in April. There's GOTTA be 25 to 40 of these guy's that just wanna go racing. I KNOW if word got out that people were interested in ski racing behind them, you'd likely get them on board with the program. They also have a flatt bottom gig in Needles every year put on by the painter, Billy B..................when I brought this up 2 years ago, I Think ? MIGHTA been last year,.........anyway, SOMEBODY was gonna pursue it.

Just got off the phone with the head cheese,, RD himself. He asked me to start thinking about a date for the next unofficial RDP ski race training day.

How's that for getting some positive results?

I am thinking a ski race exhibition instead of a Corvette pickup truck driving around in the water at circle races at Long Beach might do a couple of things,, get a few flatbottom guys excited, and maybe draw some much needed attention to the sport.

THAT"S EXACTLY what I'm talkin bout !!:D:thumbsup.............althouth that looked more like an "exhibition" than a "race",:D ...to me, THAT was ski racing in it's purest form. I never did the "aussie" style wrapped up deal, you can see the one guy going down in the turn, you HAVE to be able to "work" the slack in the the rope in the turns, AND ya gotta keep yourself from winding up on or in the boat next to you in the turns :D ( I saw that happen ONCE at Mead one year in the 75 miler )..............yeah I KNOW, that is dangerous looking, ESPECIALY IF they were running 8 boats like we did,........1st 4 inside guy's took the "short turn the 1st lap, 2 lap, the 4 outside guy's on the short turn, 3 rd lap,.............FREE FOR ALL :D

That was an exhibition at the boat races at Long Beach, exactly what I am suggesting to help promote the sport, since there is already an audience of race fans.

You can still "work the slack" wrapped up, that's exactly what you do with your front hand.

Lots of stuff has changed in ski racing. There are a few "hands out front" ski races, and in particular at the Grassroots races. You should come out and try one,, maybe come out to the training day as well and learn a bit more.

I'm pushing my luck everyday I get outta bed,:skull I've got a ruptured disk in my neck :skull, a bum knee and a torn rotater cuff :skull something about getting in a ski race just makes me pause :D................and there's NOT much in life I pause to think about :D

Up here in Norcal, we also think the flattbottom is a great way to get racing going again. I bought one and then hurt it. Not looking like it will be running at any ski races this year but hopefully next.

Probably easiest to just link you to the 2010 NWSRA rule book.. http://nwsra.net/uploads/2010rulebook.pdf

The basics will be true flat bottom,, no tunnel hulls,, kill switch,, requirements for observer footrest,, maybe a handle too. Safe collars on prop shaft and rudder,, rudder will need to be magnafluxed to check for cracks with proper documentation.

I just found it a while back from a Google search. I am not sure who took the video or who has it.

Hey Ken I may have some still photos from that too,, might be on real film, will have to figure where they might be. Brett was waving at us and making funny faces and stuff, outside the wake when he came by.

I think that video has been on Vimeo for some time,, can't recall who shot or posted it.

That was my favorite class to ski when we had it!!! It was always so fun. There used to be enough of us, that we had a women's and a men's flatbottom class.

Mike Dixon would win it flat out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would still take Ross on a 90' line at Arrowhead. Besides, Mike's little bundle of Joy would pull his leash and not let him ski. And he is about 65+.

He has 5 little bundles, but we have a blown flat that will pull him at 130.:thumbsup
